A trip to Santorini in Greece

I don’t thnk I need to tell you about Greece, a country having two mainland peninsulas and thousands of islands throughout the Aegean and Ionian seas.  You know dear literate people I have no doubt whatsoever why they call the origin of Western civilization.

I visited Greece in 2008 with my wife and having spent two days in Athens the capital of Greece we moved to a strange place called Fira Town. I don’t know why I am thinking about that trip to Fira Town in Santorini Island with my wife or probably this is the effect of long chat we had last night. If I remember right it was just after I had registered with Triond and left for 9 days trip to this beautiful Greek island.

I wish we could extend the trip for another week as the weather was fine, in the range of 16-25 pleasant but most amazing was to see houses with all blue domed roofs and the donkey ride we had up to Fira for $15 for two of us. And no, people were not as rude as we were told before we left for Greece, although I did not find their beaches better than ours.

However I would like to urge to the tourists not to ride donkeys on the Greek island of Santorini- use the cable car, bus or even your own two feet. From poor fitting harnesses, insufficient water, overworking in the heat and carrying overweight travelers,( not me or my wife though as we both are average weight) else we would have preferred to walk, the suffering is endless. I will never encourage this abuse if I ever travel again to Santorini.

But how I wish I would be able to book a boat trip at one of the many travel agencies in the main street in Perissa. I also wish I would be able to go there once again in my lifetime.

    • Santorini is my dream destination! I hope I could really come and visit that place. It just pulls me to get closer to it... Don't know why.

    • I would touch the means of transportation in traveling at Greece especially the place you made mentioned. It isn't advisable to use donkeys. I know it is too cheap to travel by riding on the donkey. But it is a form of cruelty to suffer those donkeys for the overload of weight which these animals could carry.

It is good you have brought it up. But people would still be using it for the natives are bargaining for them for their means of livelihood. So what they could do is to attain to the request of the hard-earning people of Greece.
