TRANSFORMATIONAL LEARNING
Everything in the world we are living in may change. The character of a person may change. Prices of goods may change. Clothing styles may change. Everything, almost everything we see may change. Education or learning is part of it.
Some school may not have the competitive capacity because of the way learning takes place. However, most schools in different country excel because of the changes of learning style from that traditional learning to a Transformational mode of learning.
WHAT IS THIS TRANSFORMATIONAL LEARNING?
Transformational learning is a change in capacity, that capacity analyzes, set aside bias, ask questions, reframe, and revise. It reforms the way we make out of life. Transformational learning at the depth of the soul change in the identity, purpose, and meaning. It is a moment and a movement in the inner life and social life.
In school, teachers cannot teach transformation, but facilitate the possibility of transformation. What is included in the teacher’s curriculum that provides potential for transformation? It is the transformational component, which is to inspire, instruct, and assist students in five significant issues (analyze, set aside bias, questioning, reframe, and revise) related to the human condition of the youth.
Transformational learning is facilitating the learners to have a critical thinking towards the subject. It is looking outside the box. What you have learned does not stop there. Go out to that comfort zone, expand your learning, discover, and apply or experience what you have learned. Be constructive. Do not limit your capability but do extra efforts to be more competitive.
The teacher is the facilitator of transformational learning, whereas learner’s role is to participate actively in activities. Transformation of learning cannot be existing without the learner’s participation. The learners are the one who makes the transformation. Learning can always change, but those changes are not all transformational. It can only be transformational if in the process; the students reframe and revise their old learning. It is transformational when they actively participate, ask questions and analyze it critically and apply within their selves.
