There are women who stay in a bad marriage until either the husband kills them, the husband dies, or they die first, or the husband leaves them.
It makes no sense, in some cases, because some women have ways out. They have families, they have professions, they don’t have to stick.
Some don’t, they have children and can’t realise that the kids would be better off with some relative than living in a miserable and abusive home. Some don’t because the husband has money and they are married to the money.
Many years ago, a particular woman left her marriage. Sent her children to a grandmother, walked out of the house, and went on to have a good life.
Another woman, a much younger woman, married an older man who was constantly unfaithful, and kept her pregnant for the first ten years of the marriage.
He was a horrible man, insulting, threatening, and extremely unfaithful. But she stayed because she had ‘no where to go.’ She stayed because ‘of the children’.
When she was in her early forties she looked sixty. She had no real life. She was just there. The children grew up and most of them went as far away as possible to not come back. The younger ones were virtually her responsibility because the husband was always so busy.
No one bothered anymore to tell her anything. It was too late for her. She had no life, she wouldn’t know what to do with a life. Her kids weren’t happy, in fact, they were all a little twisted due to their family life. They had no friends because they didn’t know how to make friends. They didn’t even know how to carry a conversation.
People who knew them would shrug and virtually write her off, although many felt pretty sorry for her kids. For they had no understanding of ‘normal’.
If the mother had thought staying with this horrible man was for the ‘sake of the children’ she has or will realise that the destruction of her children is the price she has paid.
