Tips to improve public speaking skills

Many people feel uneasy while landing in a situation of giving a public speech. Although it is difficult for an introvert with some tips and tricks you will be able to master that skill. Just remember, “Practice makes a man perfect.” So, here are some cool tips for you.

  1. Constructing your speech:

The first key factor is the preparation of your speech. Your speech is going to be your thoughts. So make sure that is interesting as well as entertaining. Adding images, funny quotes and images is an added advantage as people will enjoy it more rather than plain words. Keep your audience interesting.

  1. Practice a lot

It is a well-known thing that Sir Winston Churchill practices his each and every speech in front of the mirror before delivering it to his people. Yes, people. Follow the same. If possible try to record your speeches to better analyze and improve the areas that you are lagging in.

  1. Just giving the right:

Investigate the purpose of speech and think what world the audience like? What is the benefit of your speech? Will it answer the questions of the people? It is important to give in the right thing and make their time worth of investing in your speech.

  1. Bring out the extrovert:

It is natural to be nervous facing the stage and a large group of people for the first time. But with enough practice, you will be amazed to realize how well the extrovert part of you acts. So, each and every time you practice imagine you are facing a large crowd. This will elevate your confidence.

It is normal to get nervous at first but by practice, you will be surprised to see the extrovert part of you doing amazing things. Every time you practice imagine yourself in the hall standing in front of the audience. Get in touch with the environment. You will see your confidence level boost up.

  1. Mannerisms:

Mannerism is an essential aspect when it comes to public speaking. Practicing well at home but fretting and sweating on stage will not create a good impression on you. Mannerism can be improved by watching some speeches of successful people and practicing it. Don’t mimic the same but create a unique style or yourself.

The outfit that you chose to wear should be simple and elegant. Also, it should be comfortable, may it be your that favorite dress that you have for special occasions. This will boost your confidence level when you see yourself in the mirror.

  1. Kick off your speech with a smile:

Research shows that when you smile it creates a positive environment, thereby reducing your nervousness. Also, beaming a smile to the audience is good and some may even smile back which is a good sign. This gives you a good feeling and ease of your nerves. So, start with a warm smile.

  1. Include stories:

When you start your speech with a story, it makes the audience in happy and interesting to stay until the end. This is a way of engaging the audience. Mix your emotions right, as it will stay in the hearts of your audience forever. This is also a motivation factor for you to perform well.

  1. Interact with the crowd:

Interact with the audience so that it will have the people active. If you keep on talking it will bore them. Also, by interacting you will know how much your speech as inspired them which will give you a sense of satisfaction. Also, it will give you insight in what areas you need improvement. Engaging with the audience will also give you some time to think of some of the points that you might have missed.

  1. Be dynamic and full of life:

Before you leave for your speech have some energetic food which will keep you active and dynamic throughout the speech. When you are constantly speaking you will lose a whole lot of energy.
