Do you love chocolates?
I am sure most of us are chocoholic especially kids, teenagers
and ladies.
My knees started to go weak when I see bars of chocolates
displayed on the shelves in the snack department.
When there are special occasion such as birthdays,
Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day or Christmas, chocolates are
the perfect gift for ladies but not for long.
Some of us may had savored the chocolates in a week or in
a month but some may not indulge much due to weight
gain.
Do you know that you can keep chocolates for months if you
stored properly?
Here are some useful tips how you could keep your
chocolates nice and fresh
Do not leave sealed chocolates out in the open air.
Do not leave the chocolates near any fruits or vegetables.
Chocolates absorb surrounding odors and flavors easily.
Put your bars of chocolates separately in different grocery
bags when you are shopping at the supermarket.
Do not expose chocolates under the sunlight.
They melt easily in minutes.
Never leave chocolates in your vehicle in the parking lot
especially under the hot sun.
Never leave chocolates in your handbag or drawer.
You will invite ants for a party when it started to melt.
Never place chocolates next to heated appliance such as
oven, water thermos, sandwich maker or toaster.
Due to the heat produced, chocolates will gradually turn
pale, white dots appear on the surface and become pasty.
Those white dots started to develop due to humidity.
Do not leave chocolates in humid, heat room temperature
overnight.
Put chocolates in air-tight container.
In order to prevent the oxygen from oxidize chocolates.
Lack of flavor.
If you plan to keep your chocolates for months, don’t let your
spouse or kid know where you hide them, your best bet
would be the freezer!
Pack the chocolates in zip lock bag, into an air tight
container , into different part of the freezer, away from the
meats and fish.
However, the freezer may degrade the chocolate’s flavor over
the period of time.
In addition, the texture turns lighter and harden too
Remove the chocolates from the freezer, transfer them to the
fridge in order to thaw them.
Do not thaw the chocolates outside the fridge.
Store chocolates in a dry and cool place, preferably the dry
kitchen or pantry.
The ideal room temperature would be 60-70F
You may keep your chocolates in the upper fridge ( not the
freezer), in a small peanut butter empty jar, sealed tightly.
You could keep the chocolate fresh for months and still taste
sweet with cocoa.
Another way to keep your chocolate fresh and tasty is pop
them into your mouth immediately once opened.
Nobody like goey chocolates.
You might as well find a bench to sit and relax, enjoy
munching down your chocolates while enjoying the chocolaty
taste melting in your mouth!
Tips:
Buy dark chocolates instead of milk chocolates.
Dark chocolates helps to prevent blood clots and cut down diabetes because it is high in cocoa but low in sugar.
