This Is How I Combat Heat Stroke

The scorching 37 to 41C temperature is too much to bear even for those living in the tropical country like us. There many reported incidents about heat stroke especially to middle aged and elderly people who are more prone to this.

The overheating summer could be due to global warming. The earth atmosphere is hotter than 50 years ago when earth has so many plants, grasses trees. The global microwave is rising the heat index and causing many illnesses, diseases that lead to death of some people.

But we can evade this instantaneous death if we know what shouldn’t do and what should do. Being in the hotter part of the world we can say we have already adapted to this kind of climate. Maybe yes, when you are younger, but as your age increases also the risk of heat stroke.

We have our own way against heat stroke and my ways are the following:

  • Drinking lots of water than the usual 8 glasses. I can drink more than ten which start when I woke up in the morning and the last is before I laid down my back in bed at night.
  • Eating more fruits which have more water content like watermelon, apples, singkamas or white turnip and pineapple. I also drink more coconut water than usual.
  • Wearing the loose fit and colorful clothes. Sleeveless are more comfortable dress this summer simply because air flows inside our body and the colored dresses reflects the sun rays. Aside from that, using umbrella and hats are highly recommended this summer.
  • The exercise I do is every early in the morning and late in the afternoon. The good thing is that you can take a bath after this. If you can avoid biking from 9AM to 4PM, avoid it—or any physical activity outside.
  • Avoid stay outdoor.

It’s better to practice precaution than being a victim of our own negligence.

Anyway, by middle of this May, rain will begin to cool down the overheat days.##

    • Indeed, when it is summer, the heat is unbearable especially outside of the house.

I always have a folding umbrella and a folding fan in my bag. So, whenever I go outside the house I would use my umbrella.

Even inside the jeepney, whenever it stops to pick up passengers the scorching heat can be felt. The folding umbrella will be used.

I also wear loose blouses and usually sleeveless. I also would have my hair in ponytail. I always take a bath , especially in the evening.

I also see to it that I eat more than 8 glasses. And I like the water to be so cold. The moment the water enters body, you can feel instant refreshment.

These are some of the ways to beat the heat.

I think here in the Philippines, we would really have a shorter summer as was announced before. And indeed, it would rain now, especially in the morning.

The rain helps in cooling the surroundings.

    • Even when it is not summer, I used to drink 8 glasses of water, or more. These days, I avoid getting out in the sun from 10 a.m. to 4 .m., as much as I could. It is really scorching hot; and one needs to wear sunglasses to protect the eyes from UV rays.
