Thelma Terrace is more than a group home at Wood River, Illinois

Someone I know lives at Thelma Terrace, and it has given the family peace and security due to the great management and caring staff. Think about what family means to you. It should be all about love, patience and understanding.

The family has noticed many great things about Thelma Terrace. This group home has many great activities that their residents get to participate in. There is something to do every day of the week. They have many activities that complete their days.  A few of them are:

Go to the Muny (outdoor theatre in St. Louis)

St. Louis Cardinals games

Public Library

Bowling

Shopping

Picking strawberries at a local garden store

You would think the staff might take them on these activities during the weekend due to working at the workshop five hours five days a week. Every day after work the residents have something to do.  Those types of activities during the week help the residents stay focused on varieties of events.

Thelma Terrace has a range of all ages that live there. The ages of the residents are wide spread which gives the place a feeling of one big, happy family. Some residents are in their 20’s, and then to keep things  exciting you’ll see residents that are in their 30’s, 40’s, 50’s or even older.

The manager/QIDP of the home is one of a kind. She tells the residents that she loves them when they are feeling troubled, or just for no reason at all. She gives new meaning to what the word, family, stands for.

The group home is full at this time. I just wanted to let people know that group homes can be what are needed to help loved ones that need assistance with their everyday lives.  Many people have the wrong idea about group homes. Some people have had bad experiences while they were living in group homes. That does not mean all group homes should be thought of as a bad option.

The cook went out of her way to make appealing meals for someone I know that has to eat gluten-free. This person that is living at Thelma Terrace in Wood River, Illinois has adjusted to her new environment. If she felt home sick they told her they understood, and that they loved her. Now this resident checks on the manager/QIDP. and asks how she is doing quite often during the week.

If you have the option of a group home for your loved one’s needs, you may just find peace and happiness along the way. There are things that might happen to upset a resident, but rest assured your fears will vanish if the manager/QIDP. Is as great the one at Thelma Terrace in my opinion.

Check out the group homes near you, and see if you find the right one for your loved one’s needs. It is time people hear about what group homes can be about.

I have only heard of homes for seniors but this concept is a sure winner. With limited infrastructure living on one's own is not easy and in a setup such as this. one only needs to pay and everything is taken care of.
I would not mind setting up such a home here in India. I will suggest it to some builders who might go for this concept

    • is this an old folks home?
      It looks peaceful and serene.
A great place to relax and enjoy peace but one would be lonely without family members

How much does one have to pay for the monthly fees?

      • Peach purple it is a home for many different age groups. Residents get to visit especially on weekends after they have been there one month. Most weekends she come to see us. Residents get to participate in many activities as well as go to a workshop.

    • I just read this and I have to say that Thelma Terrace is a fantastic place to be at. I understand that that facility has all kinds of happieness and a good place for loved ones to live there. I hope I get a tour there one day. I love the Thelma Terrace already

    • Wow, it's good to hear of places like this. It should be like family, and the best places are where the staff care. Some places the staff treats it like a job they can't wait to get away from. It takes special people to work there. Good article.
