The Thrill of Shark Cage Diving with The Great White Shark

Shark Cage  Diving is one of the big things that most people add to their bucket lists and would love to experience. I help out now and then at a Shark Cage diving company in a little fishing village that is known for their Great White sharks, there are 7 boats that run one to two trips a day where people get into the cage and come face to face with the big Great White.

It’s strange how for most people it’s something WOW, but for those people that work there it’s just their normal day job. A normal tour starts with the divers meeting at the lodge (Clubhouse) for some breakfast  as well as to fill in the necessary forms and take outstanding payments, then the Dive master will give everyone the briefing of what to do and not to do.  Everyone will get on the boat and then the tour starts, it takes about 15 – 20min to reach the area where they will dive. The cage will be lowered into the water and groups of 4 – 5 people will be helped into the cage by the dive master, as a shark approaches the Dive master will let the people know that they can go under water as they can then see the shark. The trip will continue like this until everyone has the opportunity to get in the cage and if there is some extra time left those who would like to can get another chance in the cage. The boat will go back to land and everyone will go back to the lodge to get something to eat and drink while they watch there movie of their trip, and a chance to dry up and warm up.
