The Rainbow Of My Name

Looking all around us, there are a multitude of colors in various shades and hues. Some of my favorite colors, I find in nature and love how they fit so well together like pieces of a puzzle. Vibrant colors of spring and summer from the dazzling yellow sun to the crisp blue sky leave me feeling breathless and in awe of their beauty. I don’t have a specific “favorite” color and the ones I like change with my particular moods. But what happens when we look to the colors of our names? Can we find the perfect hue to describe who we are?

The rainbow of my name begins with an “s” and I choose Sapphire Blue for this letter. The Sapphire just happens to be my birthstone and probably ranks as one of my favorite shades of blue. The deep shade of this blue is calming to me, making me feel secure in my sometimes topsy-turvy world.

The next letter of my name is a little bit harder to pick a color for since not many can be found that begin with an “h” but of those that do I am torn between two. I like the color Hunter Green because it makes me think of the forests that I have visited and invokes several different visions of memories in my mind. However, I like the color Heather which is also a very beautiful plant that reminds me of the pictures of vast purple fields in Scotland. I would love to walk through those purple fields one day.

Now for the letter “e” which seems to be much harder than the last, but I will decide upon one that can pull double duty and that is eggplant. Not only is it a pretty shade of deep purple, but also a very delicious vegetable. Although, the eggplant does not have so much a taste as it does a texture, at least for me. To me, eggplant brings to mind a royal party because of the richness of its particular shade of purple.

Nearing the end of my name, I am afraid I must choose two colors again as the “r” tends to be repetitive for me. This letter is an easy one for me since the one color I choose is Rose for two reasons. The first reason being that it is my parents favorite flower and so I look upon the rose as a family symbol of sorts. The second reason being simply because I like the prettiness of the color.

For the second “r,” I shall pick the color Ruby which is ironically the pen name of the person who began this writing challenge. I love the deep and rich saturation of the color that reminds me of cherry Jell-o which by the way happens to be my favorite flavor.

At last, the end of the rainbow is in sight, but do we have a pot of gold? There might be the possibility of one because the last letter needed to finish my name is “y” and if I said Yellow Gold,we would have it. Sadly, I am not really fond of Yellow unless it is as bright as the sun shining in summertime or the crisp yellow of the ripe lemon hanging on the tree. These shades of Yellow can put a smile on my face and a song in my heart.

So, can you find the rainbow in your name? What colors will you choose?

    • I had no idea I was going to be sneaked into this response! Great choice of colours, and I love your observations about each one. I'm pleased to share this post :)

      • @ruby3881 I thought it as apropos since it is a lovely color and also your pen name and you did start the challenge. I am really not much for red except the deep rich tones of ruby or maroon but m is not in my first name. I thank you for sharing my post. It is much appreciated. I am glad that you liked the post.
