The Prodigal Son Is an Example of a Waster In Marital Relationship

Wastages in marital relationships arise from carelessness of the family members. The Apostle Luke wrote about a waster who is termed the prodigal son. Luke wrote that Jesus said that,” A certain man had two sons: And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living.”(Luke 15:11-13)The story of the prodigal son is a known issue that occurs in human societies. Wastages are seen being practiced by family members who live riotous lives. The result of prodigalism is devastating. The Prophet Jeremiah confirmed this when he wrote,” O thou daughter dwelling in Egypt, furnish thyself to go into captivity: for Noph shall be waste and desolate without an inhabitant.”(Jeremiah 49:19).Also the Apostle Luke wrote,” And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my father’s have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants”(Luke 15:14-19) It is better to repent than to remain a prodigal husband, wife or child for life. Some members of the family can deliberately allow other people to destroy their family estate because of dissatisfaction arising from hatred, envy and jealousy. Those couples without children do this keeping their backs at the future because they have no one to inherit their resources. Here couples can adopt children if need be to keep their names from extinction. It is not good to waste family resources no matter the reason for doing so. Those who need those resources will not be happy with the wasters of the resources.
