The most common forms of anemia and their causes.

Anemia is an insidious disease, distressing even 25% of the total population! Childbearing age, especially pregnant women suffer from this condition more often than men, so they need proper diet and regular blood tests.

Anemia occurs when there is not enough red blood cells in the blood. The reasons may be varied, for example, the body does not produce enough of them or destroy them by self, as well as in case of bleeding time were lost very many red blood cells.

Red blood cells produce hemoglobin – protein containing the iron, conferring red color for the blood. Hemoglobin carries oxygen from the lungs to other organs, and collect carbon dioxide from them, which is then removed from the body. Most blood cells, including red, are produced in the bone marrow.

The most common forms of anemia and their causes:

Iron deficiency – the most common cause of anemia worldwide. When there is not enough of this mineral in the body, it fails to produce enough hemoglobin. This form of anemia is very common for pregnant women. Incidentally, the iron deficiency anemia’s reason may be abundant periods, ulcers, regular consumption of non-prescription analgesic, particularly aspirin.

Vitamin deficiency. Besides iron for red blood cells production must be vitamin B 12 and folate. If the body a long time feel their shortage, gradually develop anemia. Chronic diseases such as HIV, rheumatoid arthritis, cancer, kidney failure can interfere with the production of body red blood cells.

Aplastic anemia. This rare and very dangerous form of anemia occurs when the body itself fails to produce enough red blood cells. The reasons can be many and varied: infection, medication use, autoimmune diseases, chemical poisoning.

Hemolytic anemia occurs when red blood cells are destroyed faster than the bone marrow can produce them. Typically, this type of anemia is due to various blood diseases, and it can be inherited, and acquired later in life.
