What is sunshine vitamin?

Sunshine Vitamin also known as Vitamin D is different from other Vitamins. The human body can have this sunshine Vitamin from within and it can’t be obtained from other external foods. It is stored in the liver and fatty tissues. The accumulated fat in the body can absorb Vitamin D as such it prevents it being used within our body.

The Vitamin D is helpful in the Calcium absorption into the bones. This also has got the effect of other vitamins and minerals that contribute to the bone health.

Studies have shown that in doses of 800 U/day can improve the health and slow down the process of aging and reduces the fractures of bones.

Keeps even the people of old age active and makes their muscles strong and keeps them from bone problems like fractures.

Maintains sugar level and prevents Diabetes

Vitamin D is necessary for both type A and type B diabetes. Diabetes is caused due to lack of or insufficient secretion of Insulin. However, for the secretion of Insulin Calcium is needed. Hence, the Vitamin D contributes to the maintenance of Insulin secretion

Fights  against Heart Diseases

The deficiency of Vitamin D leads to heart diseases, problems associated with blood circulation, blood pressure, cholesterol level and inflammation. People who are having insufficient Vitamin D die due to heart disease and other problems associated with it.

It strengthens the Immune system.

The deficiency of Vitamin D will reduce the autoimmune system of the body. The autoimmune disorders like multiple scelerosis, Rheumatoid  Arthritis, and digestive disorders

The deficiency of Vitamin d leads to mood disorders like depression, fatigue, and depression. It also affect the testosterone and estrogen production

of VitaminD.

An increase in the low levels of Vitamin may lead to schizophrenia and multiple sclerosis.

The needed Vitamin D in the Adults would be 5000 units/day.

Considerable deficiency of Vitamin D leads to deterioration in the lung function over a long time. This can be found visibly in smokers. The Sunshine Vitamin (Vitamin D) protects the lungs from getting damaged due to smoking and makes you feel better and breathe easier.

In spite of these benefits, one should not push into a store and pick up the Vitamin D supplements randomly but has to be wise enough in choosing them.

The Biological Science Research has proved that it is Vitamin D3 which is more beneficial than vitamin D2. The study made of 1000 people revealed that it is only the supplements of Vitamin D3 that is helpful in raising the Vitamin D serum levels in the humans.

    • Thank you for posting this wonderful health post. I noticed since I reached my 50's reading of anything about health is what attracts me most even in writing sites.

      Can you please tell how many hours or minutes of exposure to the sunlight each day is needed so we can get enough of vitamin D?

      I am taking up calcium supplement and it has Vitamin D, magnezium and zinc.

      Though I know that exposure to sunlight each day can very much help us get the needed vitamin D. The question is how many minutes a day.
