The recent news about the firing of Bill O’Reilly as one of the host of the Fox News TV Networks has shocked so millions of viewers of Fox News.
The primary reason why he fired from the Fox News TV Network was due to the allegation of sexual harassment by Wendy Walsh. Oh how the mighty has fallen!
A host in any news program has a greater social responsibility not only to its viewers but to the society as well. Being in the public limelight they must be a role model of good conduct and behavior.
While it is impossible for us to demands from any media practitioners to be an angel, there is always the big distinction and chasm between one’s ethics and professional conduct as opposed to one’s debased sexual instinct.
Sexual Harassment As Unacceptable Conduct And Criminal Behavior
Bill O’Reilly is a 67 year old man. He is not a minor child anymore. His conduct is not acceptable under any circumstances for a mature and old individual like his age.
Sexual harassment is a crime. It cannot be tolerated by our society. Sexual harassment is among the form and manifestation of violence against women.
If the report in the news is to be believed, Wendy Walsh is only one of the victims of Bill O’Reilly in his unusual sexual behavior. It is better for him to consult a psychologist or psychiatrist for that matter since it is apparent that he is suffering from some kind of mental disease.
To engage in any sexual harassment act is a sign of abnormal behavior. Is Bill O’Reilly sick in the head? I wonder if there will other women who will come out into the open to lodge a complaint against Bill O’Reilly.
It’s about time that any sexual harassment behavior and any violence against women be stop by our society by prosecuting any offender for that matter to the fullest extent of the law.
I firmly believed that Bill O’Reilly must not only be fired from the Fox News TV Network but must be prosecuted as well in the court of law. If Bill O’Reilly has any license at all as a media practitioner then he must be stripped of his license.
It is good that Wendy Walsh has the guts to come into the open and give her interview in the New York Times, otherwise this kind of behavior of Bill O’Reilly will not be exposed.
We know for a fact that there are so many cases of sexual harassment and acts of violence against women that is being committed in so many places: homes, workplaces and even in schools or almost everywhere.
It’s about time that these types of sexual abuse practices not to be tolerated by society. It is about time to give more teeth to the law regarding sexual harassment and violence against women.
It is also about time that all the existing laws on sexual harassment and acts of violence against women be review so that all the necessary amendments must be put into place.
One way of doing this is to increase the penalty for a longer imprisonment and increase the amount of damages.
Shame on you Bill O’Reilly!
