SENATOR ADELEKE DIED AT HIS APPOINTED TIME
Yesterday, I wrote a post; lampooning the unwarranted reactions of some Ede people over the unfortunate demise of the Asiwaju of Ede Land, Senator Isiaka Iyiola Adeleke. Sincerely, I never meant to denigrate or deride the personalities of the Ede people. Ede people are intelligent, intelligible and brilliant. Ede is an enclave of sound and great minds. Many Ede sons and daughters are doing excellently well on the national stage.
After all, I am from Oyo. Oyo and Ede share common ancestral ties. We are the same. The coronation rites of the Timi of Ede remain incomplete without the presence of the Alaafin of Oyo or any of his representatives. I know many intelligentsia of Ede extraction. I have personally met and related with many intelligent persons from Ede. I know Professor Siyan Oyeweso, Dr Isa Bello and Late Dr Akanji; owner of Providence Hospital in Oyo. These are great men from Ede.
The death of Senator Adeleke came as a rude shock to many of us. Senator Adeleke was one of the best Ede has produced in contemporary history. His philanthropic activities among his people are unequalled. He lifted and enriched so many people, even beyond the shore of Osun State. I developed admiration for him during the campaign days in Oyo State. He would have been the third executive governor of Oyo, if not for the creation of Osun State by the government of General Ibrahim Babangida in 1991. He got the epithet_ Serubawon_ right from Oyo State. Asiwaju of Ede Land and his vibrant followers moved to Osun, contested the election, defeated his opponents and won convincingly. By divine orchestration, he became the first executive governor of the State Of The Living Spring (State Of The Virtuous) at a youthful age of 36! Senator Adeleke was a phenomenon. He was a trailblazer and an astute politician cum business mogul.
However, truth needs to be told. People of Ede need to be civil and law-abiding. They should accept this tragedy in good fate. No one can kill or destroy without the leave of the Almighty. Let them not cause any mayhem or unleash any violence. The deceased’s family will never be happy, using the death of their loved one to cause disaffection among politicians or people of Osun State. The best solidarity you can show is to pray for the repose of Senator Adeleke’s soul. Pray for the forgiveness of his sins. Pray for his wives, children and all those he left behind. Pray for Ede. Pray for Osun State. May Almighty Allah bless the soul of Asiwaju Isiaka Iyiola Adeleke. May Allah make Al-Jannah Firdaus his final abode. God bless the great people of Ede. I love you.SENATOR ADELEKE DIED AT HIS APPOINTED TIME
