The next side of the coin is for the husband. The scripture directs,” Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; ( Ephesians 5:25).Husband means, “a woman’s partner in marriage”, It also means, “to manage economically”. If a husband knows that he is a partner to a wife, he should always be near to direct, help, nourish and maintain his wife. The second definition of husband is to manage economically. The root word of manage comes from the word “man”. Man means, “an adult male human being”,.”A human being; person”,”the human race, mankind”, an adult male servant, employee ,a husband or a lover”. All these words are given to describe Man. Summarily; man is the controller of the entire world including his wife, family, trees and the animals. He is a manager and he is a person. That means he has a supreme office in creation. He is an institution. He employs people and can be employed to serve. Finally he is a husband and a lover. He loves the entire creation of God, but particularly his “rib” biblically known as his wife. Man has authority to give permanent names to God’s creation. The scripture records,” And out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; (Genesis 2:19-20a) This power of naming things includes naming his marriage, which turns to be his family at the long run. MAN WHAT IS THE NAME OF YOUR MARRIAGE?.It is disheartening that many marriages have no names, while some are named after negative characteristics. Some are described as “Rome and Carthage”,”British and Germany”etc.Also some positive ones are known as “Romeo and Juliet”. The scripture noted,” And the LORD God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. This is because among the entire creation,” for Adam there was not found an help meet for him”among the whole creation.(Genesis 2:18,2:20b) God did something.” And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. (Genesis 2:21-22)The only gift particularly handed over to ADAM which means MAN is his wife Eve, the woman. In appreciation to God,”Adam said, this is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. “(Genesis 2:23-24).This miracle done by God to Adam is a relief. Adam is endowed with the ability to love and keep this gift called Eve, his wife. Love becomes the bedrock of the relationship between Adam and Eve.Thus, the word love means “a deep affection or attachment to someone or something. A passionate affection of one person for the other and the object of this: Sweetheart.”The definition of love is summarized in the words “attachment, deep affection, passionate” and ends with the word “sweetheart.”These active words describe the relationship which exists in man not found in other animals. A husband should be attached to his wife. He should have deep affection. He should love her with passion. Moreover; he should delight in her as his sweetheart. Love in marriage carries weight as long as the couples are living together. Husbands should know that they ought to carry out every activity in their estate including cooking, washing ,bathing the children, going to purchase items in the market, farming etc,. That is the position of man if the wife is not present in his life. The presence of wives help the man in his all round responsibility. Wives come in to help husbands carry out with some of the man’s responsibilities including giving comfort to their husbands in times of joy and sadness. This is why husbands should love their wives. A man who treats his wife with cruelty is just like one who quarrels, slaps, threatens and abandons his workers to their fate. If an employer wants good production output from his workers, he should love and cherish them otherwise his production will crumble. Let husbands see their wives as relief not burdens to them.
