Little do the site owners and the community that belongs to those sites realise that it takes two to tango.
Many members of the community have apprehensions about a site succeeding. What can a site do if the community does not walk hand in hand and give them a helping hand until it can sustain.
The tendency of members at least some of them is to have an attitude of ‘me for myself and God for everybody’ How wrong they are. We are all in it together. By our participation not only do we get a foothold on those sites we help others to grow. When I say others I am including the site as well.
The site needs to pay attention to the feedback that they receive from the community. Ignoring would be the downfall as it is the experience of the community that will in the long run help sites to detour if at all from the wrong direction they are going.
One site went into limbo merely because they ignored what the community was telling them. I know it because I was ignored when I repeatedly brought to their notice some wrong doings by some members of the community but that fell on deaf ears. They had a few in whom they placed trust in and those few were the biased lot who only reported those that they wanted out of the site but gave a blind eye to the real culprits.
I am with Literacy Base since the last few days and have noticed they pay attention to what the community is telling them. They should continue with this practice with all sincerity and the community in turn should have trust in the site. It is a pretty young site and they have a long way to go to make their presence felt on the Net and with support from the community they surely will.

The support here is quick to respond to queries and listens to suggestions and feedback. This is the reason I have faith in this site and I chose to stick with it.
I have written the feasibility of how LiteracyBase could be sustained by the members. However, it is being "disapproved". Probably my title is not feasible or appropriate for it. It says that "Is LiteracyBase a Paying Social Network?". I am very sorry. I couldn't the mind of the admin or the moderator for that matter. Probably, I violate the guideline. If my posts couldn't reach the online stage, I would just be satisfied of giving a comment or reaction to the existing posts here. At least I earn.
It may simply be that the title of your post hints that site might not pay. Any content that leads to readers doubting the site itself, is not good for the site or for the community.
Perhaps if you resubmitted the post with a different title?
I agree that it takes 2 to tango.
Not all sites would listen to readers or writers.
The worst scenario is when the admin of that site doesn not respond to questions and emails.
However, LiteracyBase did the best. The admin team had answered most of the questions asked.
They had also took the initiative to give tips and advices which I had asked them several times.
I must admit that the response time was pretty quick, given 48 hours.
If every writing online site pays without delay or excuses, I am sure those sites would not shut down either.
Last year and this year, at least 6 sites had gone down.
Very sad indeed.
6 sites closed down in these two years? That's a lot.
Yes, I think LiteracyBase is trying their best to make the site better, be it a new site, the team is really doing well. We always get our responses fast, and the blog posts got reviewed and published fast too. Though many are complaining about the low pay rate, I hope this is the way to make the site sustain for long run, not just another come and go site.
@peachpurple do not forget that those who sold their sites already made their money.
The founder of Associated Content sure made his millions when he sold to Yahoo.
I totally agree with you on this. I remember my ex-bosses always said, the staff is the main asset of the company, without the staff, the company will not be able to run well with just the boss. I think when a boss recognize and appreciate the staff, the staff are always willing to offer more and work harder for the company. A good boss should also always provide good support to the staff, be ready to help whenever the staff need any, and be there with them too.
Though I do not really consider myself as a staff here, but a member to a site, I also think we should work that way. When the admin or team recognize our hard work, we feel good and we will continue to contribute to the site. I guess that's one of the main reasons I would like to stay with LiteracyBase.
Hope the team and members will always work hand in hand in LiteracyBase, and we are together making this site better and better.
I actually find that the writing community gathered around sites such as LiteracyBase is very supportive. If there is any impediment to participation, it's generally that the user is pressed for time or has no internet access at home. Some of the users may be sharing a single device among several family members, or trying to use the site from a mobile device.
It's good to keep in mind as well that we don't see everything here on the site. Much of the activity of supporting the site is done through networking on Facebook, Twitter, G+ or other sites. While not apparent to all the other users, the traffic coming into the site will be seen by the staff. Unique visitors who are coming here from a link that has a given user's referral code, is a sign to the admin of that person's support of the site. It's also something only the user and admin can see...
