The Stubborn Blue Trumpet that Wants to Stay

Certain flowers need no maintenance. A little water once a week is all that they need to survive. Blue Trumpet is one such flower that survives every season, rain or shine. Sadly it spreads like wild fire.

When I saw the first bunch of flowers

emerging from this creeper I went ecstatic. The artistic formation of the clusters made these flowers – Blue Trumpet – Thunbergia grandiflora –  more appealing. I never thought however that they would be invasive.

‘Invasive’ is a mild word for this creeper as I see it in the most unlikely places, almost wanting to take charge. No amount of weeding has deterred this stubborn creeper to leave me in peace.

It leans on any plant that grows in its vicinity and that plant stops flowering. When I think that I have done the eradication, there it springs again enticing me with those beautiful clusters though,  invasive.  Nature chooses them to place them artistically at vantage points.

I have surrendered and shall keep this creeper in trim and retain it wherever I think it should remain. This is going to be tough as every now and then I will have to get going with this rather tedious and boring activity.

I wish those that are really required to spread do not learn any lesson from this tenacious creeper. Same applies to a lot of other wild flowers that grow so easily without much ado,

I have a few of those wild flowers which I chose to bring  in and they do play a positive role in that they stay where I want them to stay.

The bumble bee loves these flowers. It is interesting to watch the bumble bee getting deep inside the flower for its nectar.  This is the only flower I see attracts the bumble bee.  I have loads of photos taken while the bumble bee is in action.
