When I was young, my mom used to cook different cabbage meals for dinner main course meal.
There are various ingredients that you can add into the cabbage recipes, depending on your preference.
My mom is a creative person.
She could add in roast pork, char siew pork ( Sweet roasted pork , red in color ), dried shrimps, fresh prawns, scrambled eggs, chicken fillets, pork fillets and tofus.
My cousins hated cabbage very much and I understood why.
My aunt isn’t good at food creativity.
Her cabbage dish is just plain stir fry cabbage with chopped garlic.
Yes, it is simple and quick to cook but children get bored with the same old cabbage dish.
The best so far that my mom had cooked cabbage recipe is Stir Fry Cabbage with Dried Shrimps.
Taste and Flavor
It gives the crunchy bites, tasty and a little salty flavor that blended well with the dried shrimp.
Dried shrimps should be crispy and chewy not limp or soaked into the gravy.
You have to briefly wash dried shrimps before cooking them.
You can see the seashells and stones which are dried and salted together with the shrimps.
Do not soak them into a bowl of water because the shrimps would turn tasteless.
Quickly wash them under tap water and drain well.
You can either chop them or fry the whole dried shrimps for crispy flavor.
Cabbage leaves should be in bite size, crunchy and slurpy, not large leaves, hardly able to shove into your mouth.
The SECRETS
The technique of stir frying cabbage is to throw in the hard stems first in order to soften them before you throw in the dried shrimps and the cabbage leaves.
Cabbages leaves are easily cooked in minutes.

I love cabbage dishes, and this is so simple yet sounds very tasty!
I love fried cabbage or any type of cooked cabbage. My mom used to make a boiled dinner with cabbage, carrots, potatoes, and ham. So good with some butter, salt, and pepper. I am sure this dish is good too.
Seem to be delicious and healthy.
The health benefits of cabbage include frequent use as a treatment for constipation, stomach ulcers, headaches, obesity, skin disorders, eczema, jaundice, scurvy, rheumatism, arthritis, gout, eye disorders, heart diseases, aging, and Alzheimer’s disease.
Did you know that the inexpensive, humble and widely used cabbage can practically work miracles? Cabbage is a leafy vegetable of Brassica family, and is round or oval in shape. It consists of soft, light green or whitish inner leaves covered with harder and dark green outer leaves. It is widely used throughout the world, and can be prepared in a number of ways, but most commonly, it is included as either a cooked or raw part of many salads.
Cabbage is an abundant source of Vitamin C. You might be surprised to know that it is actually richer in vitamin C than oranges, which is traditionally considered the “best” source of that vital nutrient. Vitamin C, as one of the best antioxidants, reduces free radicals in your body that are one of the fundamental causes of premature aging. It also helps in repairing the wear and tear on the body through the course of your life. Therefore, cabbage is very helpful in treating ulcers, certain cancers, depression, immune system boosting, and defending against a cough and cold. It can also speed up the healing process for wounds and damaged tissues, regulate the proper functioning of the nervous system, and reduce the effects and presence of Alzheimer’s disease and other degenerative neural diseases.
