Starry, starry toes

I have a love-hate relationship with chunky, loose glitters. Love. I love it when it sits perfectly on my painted nails and the “custom” design I can apply whenever I apply polish. Especially after just putting it on, I love that it looks so pretty on my nails. Hate. I just hate removing it! Of course, my nail polish doesn’t stay forever on my nails. So I need to remove it but always dread this part. I hate spending 10-15 minutes just trying to remove all the glitters on my nails not to mention that I am soaking my nails in “smelly” acetone. Ugh!
But even so, I love the look of having glitters when I have a little bit more time to work on my nail polish. Although I avoid putting glitters on my fingernails since I remove polish there more often than in my toenails these days.
Last night, I had a little bit more time on my hands and decided to use the Born Pretty loose glitter that I have with me. I decided to use the star-shaped gold glitters this time and paint my nails fuschia.

To start, I applied a coat of base coat on my toenails and waited for about 2 minutes to let it dry. Then, I proceeded to apply two coats of the fuschia nail polish. It is one of my old nail polish stash I received from a friend a couple of Christmases ago. I actually have to put a few drops of nail polish thinner on it since I realized it started to get a little bit thicker and difficult to apply.
I only planned to put loose glitters on my big toe nails since the rest of my toes are tiny (so useless to put anything there!). I don’t want to cover it entirely with loose glitters as well so I decided to just place it in a triangular shape, diagonally on one side of my big toenails.
To place the loose glitters, I made use of a “dotting tool” to pick up the glitter pieces one-by-one. So after I applied the second coat of the fuschia nail polish, I started to arrange the loose glitters so it will stick to my painted nails while it is still wet. I started from the corner side of my toenails and worked my way towards the center. I stopped putting glitters once I had three rows of star-shaped glitters. I went on to apply a thick quick dry top coat to make sure it stays in place and won’t drop off. I just followed the same step with my other foot.

tada!

I love the way my toes looked and so far, love the glitters. I will wait until it’s time to remove it and then, I am almost certain, I will hate loose glitter polish once again.
