Sri Lanka Beat Pakistan in 5th ODI of series, 2009

Sri Lanka was scheduled to play a 7 Match ONE DAY International series in Pakistan in 2009. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as they are ranked at 3 and 5. The 5th ONE DAY international match was to be played on National Stadium, Karachi, Pakistan. Pakistan holds the upper hand as they are more balanced team and playing very well as well.

Sri Lanka batted well and was able to post total of 281 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 7 wickets and with top scores of K Sanaga who made 85 runs in 85 balls with 5 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 100 runs in 100 balls and T thusara who made 42 runs in 21 balls with 1 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 200 runs in 100 balls.

Pakistan was needed to score 282 runs in 50 over’s to win this match.

Pakistan batted well but was unable to chase the target of 282 runs and was only able to make 205 runs in 44.1 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and lost the game by 76 runs and with top contributions from K Akmal who made 45 runs in 50 balls with 4 4’s and 0 sixes at the strike rate of 90 runs in 100 balls.

Sri Lanka won the match by 76 runs and series stands at 3-2 in favor of Pakistan with 2 more games to play.
