Sri Lanka Beat Pakistan in 1st T 20 of series,2009

Sri Lanka was scheduled to play a 7 Match T 20 International series in Pakistan in 2009. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as they are ranked at 3 and 5. The 1st T 20 international match was to be played on Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, Pakistan. Pakistan holds the upper hand as they are more balanced team and playing very well as well.

Sri Lanka batted well and was able to post total of 180 runs in 20 over’s at the loss of 7 wickets and with top scores of Sanath J who made 60 runs in 50 balls with 8 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 120 runs in 100 balls and M Jaya who made 40 runs in 40 balls with 1 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 100 runs in 100 balls.

Pakistan was needed to score 181 runs in 20 over’s to win this match.

Pakistan batted well but was unable to chase the target of 181 runs and was only able to make 155 runs in 19.5 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and lost the game by 25 runs and with top contributions from S afridi who made 40 runs in 20 balls with 2 4’s and 2 sixes at the strike rate of 200 runs in 100 balls.

Sri Lanka won the match by 25 runs and series stands at 1-0 in favor of Sri Lanka with 6 more games to play.
