Sri Lanka Beat Australia in 2nd ODI of series, 2013

Sri Lanka was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Australia in 2013. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as both are ranked at 3 and 5. The 2nd ONE DAY international match was to be played on Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Australia on 13th Jan 2013. Australia holds the upper hand as they are more experienced team and playing at home.

Sri Lanka won the toss and opts to bowl first; this is how Australia team and 11 was looking like in this 2nd ONE DAY international match: Brad Haddin (wk), Mitchell Johnson, David Hussey, Phillip Hughes, George Bailey (c), Aaron Finch, B Cutting, Usman Khawaja, Glenn Maxwell, Mitchell Starc, Xavier Doherty

 

And Sri Lanka team and 11 was looking like this in this 2nd ONE DAY international Match: Mahela Jayawardene (c), Tillakaratne Dilshan, Lasith Malinga, Upul Tharanga, Nuwan Kulasekara, Ajantha Mendis, Angelo Mathews, Thisara Perera, Lahiru Thirimanne, Dinesh Chandimal (wk), Jeevan Mendis.

 

Australia did not batted very well and was able to post total of only 170 runs in 46.5 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and with top scores of BHaddin who batted very well and made 50 runs in 67 balls with 4 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 74 runs in 100 balls, G Bailey who batted very well  and made 26 runs in 46 balls with 2 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 57 runs in 100 balls, David H who batted very well  made 29 runs in 41 balls with 5 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 71 runs in 100 balls faced, B Cutting made 27 runs in 45 balls with 2 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 60 runs in 100 balls, Extras contributed 6 runs with 1 byes, 1 leg byes, 4 wide balls, and 0 bowlers over stepped.

Sri Lanka was needed to score 171 runs in 50 over’s to win this match at the run rate required of 3.42 runs per over.

Sri Lanka batted well and was able to chase the score of 171 runs in 40.1 over’s at the loss of 2 wicket only and won the game by 8 wickets in hand and top scores by Lahiru T who batted very well and aggressively and made 102 runs in 134 balls with 12 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 76 runs in 100 balls , T Dilshan who batted very well  and made 51 runs in 88 balls with 4 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 58 runs in 100 balls faced and K Perera who batted well and made 14 runs in 16 balls with 1 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 87 runs in 100 balls faced  and extras contributed 5 runs with 0 byes, 3 leg byes, 2 wide balls, and 0 bowlers over stepped for no balls.

Sri Lanka won the match by 8 wickets in hand  and 59 balls still remaining in the match to be bowled and now this 5 Match ONE DAY international series stands at 1-1, and stands tied with 3 more games to play in it.
