South Africa Beat Sri Lanka in the 5th ODI of Bilateral Series played in 2014

South Africa was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Sri Lanka in 2014. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as both are ranked at 2 and 4. The 5th ONE DAY international match was to be played on Mahinda Rajapaksa International Stadium, Hambantota, Sri Lanka on 12th July 2014.

South Africa batted well and was able to post total of 339 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 5 wickets and with top scores of Q D Kock who batted very well and made 128 runs in 127 balls with 12 4’s and 3 six at the strike rate of 101 runs in 100 balls, a B Devilliers who batted very well  and made 108 runs in 71 balls with 11 4’s and 4 six at the strike rate of 152 runs in 100 balls, H Amla who batted very well  made 48 runs in 61 balls with 4 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 79 runs in 100 balls faced, J P Duminy who batted very well  made 29 runs in 24 balls with 2 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 121 runs in 100 balls, Extras contributed 16 runs with 4 byes, 3 leg byes, 9 wide balls, and no one ever stepped.

Sri Lanka was needed to score 340 runs in 50 over’s to win this match at the run rate required of 6.8 runs per over.

Sri Lanka batted well but was unable to chase the score of 340 runs and was only able to make 257 runs in 44.3 over’s at the loss of 10 wicket and lost the game by 82 runs and top scores by Angelo M who batted very well and aggressively and made 58 runs in 81 balls with 5 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 72 runs in 100 balls, K Sanga who batted very well  made 36 runs in 23 balls with 6 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 156 runs in 100 balls faced, K perera who batted very well  and aggressively made 37 runs in 25 balls with 4 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 148 runs in 100 balls and A Priyanjan 30 runs in 46 balls with 3 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 65 runs in 100 balls faced  and T Dilshan made 30 runs in 24 5 4’s and 0 six a the strike rate of 125 runs in 100 balls faced and extras contributed 28 runs with 2 byes, 4 leg byes, 20 wide balls, and 2 bowlers over stepped for no balls.

South Africa won the match by 82 runs and now this 5 Match ONE DAY international series ends at 4-1 in favor of South Africa. South Africa won the series 4-1 as they played great cricket.
