South Africa Beat Sri Lanka in the 2nd ODI of Bilateral Series played in 2014

South Africa was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Sri Lanka in 2014. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as both are ranked at 2 and 4. The 2nd ONE DAY international match was to be played on R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka on 4th July 2014.

South Africa batted well and was able to post total of 280 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 5 wickets and with top scores of H Amla who batted very well  made 80 runs in 80 balls with 8 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 100 runs in 100 balls, Ab de Villiers who batted very well  made 60 runs in 50 balls with 4 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 120 runs in 100 balls, d Miller who batted very well  made 40 runs in 20 balls with 2 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 200 runs in 100 balls faced, Q D Kock who batted very well  made 35 runs in 35 balls with 3 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 100 runs in 100 balls, Ryan M who batted very well  made 20 runs in 10 balls with 2 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 200 runs in 100 balls and M Morkel who batted very well and made 15 runs in 5 balls with 1 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 300 runs in 100 balls faced.

Sri Lanka was needed to score 281 runs in 50 over’s to win this match at the run rate required of 5.62 runs per over.

Sri Lanka batted well but was unable to chase the score of 281 runs and was only able to make 240 runs in 45.2 over’s at the loss of 10 wicket and lost the game by 40 runs and top scores by M jaya who batted very well  batted very well made 70 runs in 70 balls with 9 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 100 runs in 100 balls, T Dilshan who batted very well  made 35 runs in 35 balls with 3 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 100 runs in 100 balls faced, K perera who batted very well  made 25 runs in 25 balls with 2 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 100 runs in 100 balls faced and Lahiru T who batted very well  made 30 runs in 15 balls with 0 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 200 runs in 100 balls faced.

South Africa won the match by 40 runs and now this 5 Match ONE DAY international series stands at 2-0 in favor of South Africa with 3 more games to play in this great series.
