Some Tips On How To Speak English Fluently

For us, non-native speakers of English, it is very important to know how to speak the language because it is a necessary tool in communicating to a wide range of people. One focus of learning spoken English language is to be fluent in speaking the language itself. And that was my main reason for attending the training on how to become an English speaker.

Below are the tips on how to become good English speaker. I want to share this to readers who are not good in spoken English. I must say, there are some people who are good in written English but not in Spoken English. Both of the two should go together.

  1. PRACTICE
  • In learning English, you need to be confident. When you are a starter, courage is very much important at first in order to comprehend what someone is saying or asking and to let your mind think of the good answer in reply with the speaker.
  • Many times, some people will probably laugh or make fun of you because of your errors but don’t be afraid. We cannot avoid making mistakes when we are still learning but that should not be the reason for us to quit. When people laugh at us, consider it as a challenge for us to make it better.
  • As a beginner, it is good to ask help from a native English speaker and for sure, they will love to share their ideas and knowledge about it.
  • Continue practicing even if you are not in school or training area. When I was in elementary, we were forced to speak English when we are on the campus and that helps me a lot in practicing my communication skills. Practicing spoken English really takes time and should be forcefully used daily.
  1. LISTENING
  • Improving your listening skills will help you speak English fluently. You will learn a great deal on how to speak English and how it works by just listening to others, listening to the television or radio. Listening to your favorite genre of English music will also a great help.
  • Concentrate when you are listening. There may be some words that cannot be understood because of the tone and volume of the voice or the accent used but if you focus on it, you will slowly understand it. English are spoken into many different versions like American English, British English, Australian English, South African English, Indian English, and so on. If you are a beginner, try to listen to only one version of English language in order for you not to be confused. For us, Filipinos, we usually speak the Neutral English as well as the American English.

Indeed we can practice speaking English by always speaking English. In high school , i was really practiced on how to speak English because we were required to.
