Some of my eating experiences

Let me confess that I am not in eating heavily or love eating out daily but when I go out to eat with my loved ones or my friends and family I really want to spend some money. I have hundreds of such outings in my life and would like to share few of them with you. However, I would like to begin with beginning so I will keep posting my experiences.

South v/s North

I remember when I was eating regularly at a local restaurant in Belgaum city of Karnataka, which is a part of a famous food chain the place I used to be staying with one of my colleagues. This hotel cum restaurant, whereas staying inside the lodge, is open to most people and it was that I ate the most effective south Indian food of my life.

That was extremely appetizing or delicious food prepared with use of rice I ate although I am not a regular rice eater. I was a beginner then in the job so the cost of food might seemed even be a bit of excessive however, it was effectively suitable with the restaurant’s reputation, sophistication, cleanliness and the standard of the meal.

However when I came to my home town and went to same restaurant’s branch with couple of my friends I had a shock reading the menu which was as high as three times in Delhi what I used to pay in Belgaum for the same food. Yes it is almost impossible to speak when it comes to cost of food in some of the better food chains and meals in Delhi to not point out the standard of Punjabi foods.

The Doasa and Bada (south Indian foods), the famous south Indian dishes served with sambhar (a side dish) and different chutneys were almost three times as costly as I ate them regularly in Belgaum and yet the taste was nowhere near the preparations I had in south India. But the fact that we face the same problem in south India also when  we eat at north Indian restaurants in south and the rates are too high at better eating joints although the smaller ones are almost at par with what we pay in north India.

The busiest eating area

On a visit to Bangalore one cannot believe the waiting time if one goes to probably one of the most crowded eating area during evenings at MG Road the talk of the town and the single largest area having maximum number of malls and eating joints. As some of you might well aware that Bangalore being the IT hub or better known as Silicon Valley of Asia with maximum number of highly paid engineers living in a single city from all over the country which flock the area.

As I submit this post on Literacybase I will try to point out the eating areas and popular foods of different states of my country. My posts will include all about foods and the eating places in different parts of the country which will be a great surprise to some of you because India is perhaps the only country in the world with such a vast variety of food items cooked in different ways. I wish the site had a niche blogging system where I could put all my experiences in one place.

    • I guess the rental and the labor cost in Delhi are much higher, so they have to charge more.
I think only fast food restaurants are able to maintain the same price in the country.

    • @scheng1 even the fast food price is going up by the day in this area. I think the main reason is the 'free hand' to traders is the main reason.
