Today , I am including this new vegetable recipe from my good old neighbor who claimed that this is one of the common vegetable fritters among the Indian communities.
It is said that vegetable fritters makes a perfect snacking meal which is much healthier and uses a versatile of non-leafy vegetables to encourage younger generations to chew on.
When choosing your vegetables, select those vegetables that are able to be deep fried such as:
-Potatoes
-Brinjals
-Onions
-Cauliflowers
-Pumpkins
-Mushrooms
Least than I had expected, cauliflowers make a nice crunchy yet flavorful snack for kids since they are picky eaters.
Almost everyone love fritters. Hence, introducing Vegetable Fritters ( which is also known as Pakoras ) is an ideal method to get your kids and teenagers to induldge in snacking healthy food instead of reaching for a bag of potato chips.
Surprisingly, this fritter batter is quite different from the regular type that I had used all the while.
In this batter, you will need to mix chopped garlic, garam masala ( salt ), chilli powder and water to mix well all the dry ingredients.
As you can see, you don’t need any baking powder or eggs to induce the puffy batter.
In addition, you don’t have to marinate vegetables with any seasoning at all.
Most fritter foods required at least salt and pepper or soy sauce to marinate the food in order to attain a specific flavor.
However, Vegetable Fritters taste as good as any meaty fritters even without any seasoning at all.
Remember to slice each vegetable as thinly as possible.
If you want to dish up a plate of crispy Vegetable Fritters ( pakoras), thin vegetables are easili cooked in seconds compare to thick slices, that absorb more oil instead.
Cauliflowers are amazingly crunchy and crispy when coated with sufficient thick batter.
I would strongly recommend you to try this unique Indian Fritters over a bag of potato chips!
– 1 cup chick pea flour
-1 tbsp self raising flour
– 1 tsp crushed raaw garlic
– 1 tsp masala salt
-1 cup water
– 2 potatoes
-1 brinjal
-2 onions
-1/2 head of cauliflower
-1 tsp chilli powder (optional)
-1 salt to taste
-oil for deep frying
Yield 4 persons, a wonderful snack idea for teatime with cold beverage.

In Kadapa District of Andhra Pradesh, the place I hail from most of the people prefer Pakoras in their dinner or sometimes in their lunch.
This is one of the best side dishes that gives taste to any kind of food item. This can be had individually as Pakoras or one can have them along with the rice.
The Kadapa happens to be a very backward area. The people are mostly Muslims. They are very experts in making Pakoras. Here the speciality is that they are made using only Onions. They show you the way to the heaven during the rainy season.
As told already they prepare Pakoras using only Onions. They will not use Potatoes, cauliflower etc. They prepare them using the flour of Bengal gram. They add chili powder, salt , slight pepper, cumin seeds for digestion, etc,
But, nowadays there are places where even green leaves are also being used to prepare this dish. But originally Pakoras means the fritters made of Onions only.
