Skinfood: A box of cotton pads!

SkinFood – Cosmetic

I only became familiar with the Korean brand Skinfood when I entered the Korean skincare craze. So far, no major complaints from me when it comes to that brand so it has become one of my must-buy brands when buying skincare or beauty products.

A couple of months ago, I participated in an auction-style bidding on eBay for a set of four Skinfood nail polish bottles. It was around the same time I was trying to grow my nail polish stash so whenever there is an opportunity to buy a different color of nail polish bottle – I grab it. Long story short, I won the auction and included in the set is a box of Skinfood cotton pads. Come to think of it, the cotton pads are long gone but haven’t used any of the nail polish bottles yet! Eek! Ok, I need to use it in the coming months before it dries out.

To remove nail polish, I don’t use cotton pads (since it is a bit more expensive) so I only use cotton pads for my face. And it was the same thing I intended to use the Skinfood cotton pads that came together with the nail polish set. Unlike the round cotton pads I typically use to remove makeup and apply toner, the Skinfood pads were rectangular in shape. Just by looking at it, I immediately noticed that it is thinner than the cotton pads I use. Nonetheless, I still went on to use it for my face instead of my nails.

I immediately noticed the difference of using the Skinfood cotton pads in comparison to the usual brand I buy. Apart from its rectangular shape, the edges seemed sewn to have a clean trim. The cotton fiber was nice and smooth but I noticed that it “breaks” apart quite easily. I don’t do aggressive motion when I apply toner on my face but I noticed that the pads stretch out a bit and sometimes, it stretch out too much, there is a “gap” formed at the center of the cotton pad. So I need to fold the cotton so that I can continuously use it to my face. That, or I get another pad so I can finish applying toner or removing my makeup.

I was lucky that the cotton pads came “free” together with the nail polish set I won in the auction. I never checked the regular price if it was sold separately but I think I will stick to my round grocery brand cotton pads to use for my face instead. I don’t consider it as a bad product – maybe mediocre? But since I have a different brand I can use, I’d use that instead.

Overall, I find Skinfood cotton pads just on the average side. I think the most I’d be happy to spend for a box of this would be just below €1 since I also buy the round cotton pads on a cheaper side because it is a grocery brand product.

    • It's too bad these cotton pads were not really up to par! I find I don't buy many cotton balls or pads anymore. I have learned to crochet a reusable cotton "puff" for washing with soap, removing makeup, or applying toner. They are very quick to make, and I like that they're environmentally friendly :)

      • Oh, I have forgotten how to crochet, LOL! Yeah, I was lucky it came with the set and I bought it thru an auction so it is cheaper than the usual price. I don't think I will be too happy spending money on something as flimsy as this since I buy the cheap option as well thru the groceries.

    • There’s something comforting about my bedtime beauty routine. Once I massage my cleanser into my skin, it is as if I am washing away any stress from the day. Those few minutes spent on pampering actually come with other perks. In fact, there are several benefits to having a consistent skincare routine.

You change the oil in your car every few months in order to properly maintain it. You know that routine maintenance is a priority to extend the life of your car. You need to respect your skin the same way.

It might sound silly, but it’s true. When you take care of your skin, your skin will take care of you. Did you know that your skin is actually working hard while you sleep to regenerate? Cell turnover is faster at night and this allows your products to do their job more efficiently.

Dullness. At some point, most of us will notice a decrease in skin radiance. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. If you make exfoliation a regular part of your skincare routine, you’ll get your glow back.

How many of you have purchased the latest skincare item promising results only to use it a couple of times before declaring it ineffective? People get so caught up in the notion of miracle ingredients or finding the fountain of youth that they expect instant results.

Look at the definition in my waist.” When you stick with that exercise plan, you’ll continue to notice changes in your body and if you keep at it, you will be able to maintain those changes. The same is true with a consistent skincare regimen. Your skin will continue to look healthy and refreshed as long as you don’t give up on the routine.
