Simple and Healthy Exercise: Jogging

I have gained some weight and have not slimmed down after giving birth more than two months ago. I used to lose weight easily for my first two pregnancies, but perhaps it is because of my older age, this time it seems like I am not losing weight without putting any efforts. I decided to do more exercises, it does not only help me to slim down, it also helps me to be more healthy, so I can take care of my children, especially having more energy to take care of my little baby. I need to wake up every now and then to nurse my baby during the night, so I really need the energy.

I am already walking in the park with my children and carrying my little baby in sling almost every evening, but I think walking is not enough as I am still not losing weight. I used to go jogging every morning for a short period before I was pregnant, and it really helped to make me feel healthier and fresher everyday, so I started to go jogging again last week since I think I can already go for exercise.

 

Jogging is a simple exercise because:

 

1. No other equipment is needed

We do not need any equipment, such as ball, racket or mat for jogging, we just need to get ourselves ready. Of course, we do need a pair of sport shoes and simple sport wear perhaps.

 

2. We can do it on our own

Unlike other sports, we might need someone to play with us, jogging does not need to get others to accompany us. Though we can always jog together with our friends or family members, I actually prefer to jog on my own, as I do not need to follow other person’s pace, but just follow my own jogging rhythm. I do not like to chat with others while jogging too. For me, it is freer to jog alone. Moreover, I try not to spend too much time jogging in the morning as my baby is waiting for me at home. I need to nurse him if he wakes up.

3. We can do it almost anywhere, anytime

Though I think it would be better to jog in the morning and in the park, I think we can also jog in our neighborhood, on the road, in the evening too. We can just choose wherever and whenever more convenient to us. I am very lucky to stay in a neighborhood where there is a big park, with an artificial lake, so I can just walk to the park and jog there. The jogging track is about 4 km, and I usually only jog for half round which is enough for me.

 

4. It is free

We do not need to pay to book a court or gym room, as usually the entrance to the park is free, or we can just jog on the road which is also free.

 

While I was jogging in the morning, I think that jogging is really a simple exercise that most of us can do to keep ourselves healthy. So if you are thinking of keeping fit, being more healthy, jogging can be a good choice.

    • I don't understand why some people need to go to the gym just having running exercise using a treadmill. As you had mentioned, it is for free. And it is not expensive to do. Running in the park is a fun thing to do. You can meet people or even enjoy the ambiance while running around the park.

      • Yes, you are right. I would prefer to run or jog in the park, rather than in the gym, as there is more fresh air outside. :D
        But I think some would prefer proper training in gym, as there are professional trainers who guide them to do the workout and perhaps they know how much they have improved. Moreover, some might think it is too boring to jog alone in the park. I have friends who prefer to pay and go to gym. :)
