There are some television serials which may be highly rated but leave you with a bad taste in your mouth. Watching them on the television, broken by commercials and days between episodes, the bad taste may be diluted. Watching them on a computer, able to see as many or as few presentations without interruption is different.
It is different because once you have absolute control and watch when it is convenient for you and you can focus, the unpleasant aspects, whether bad writing, horrible characters, or a lack of quality in general moves to the forefront.
You notice how ridiculous or impossible certain plots are, and feel as if you have been short changed.
These are a few programmes I have watched, at least in part, and am sorry I wasted my eyesight.
HOMELAND
The inaugural plot was good. Unfortunately the writers chose to make the protagonist bi-polar. Now one could not become a CIA agent and be bi-polar. The checks that are done pre-admission to training are such that such a person would never get into the programme, much less stay in, much less rise to a high rank.
To have to see this character every week is repulsive. Doing a marathon was, during the first plot; that is of a returned American soldier who had been held by terrorists, who may not be trustworthy, did keep one’s eyes and mind on the programme.
Once he was gone, so was any reason to continue to watch this series.
THE FALL
A British detective show with repulsive characters. Characters one can neither like nor trust, all with dark secrets in the past bubbling into the present. The serial killer is as repugnant as the police officer leading the investigation. With no break in the discomfort; not watching it to begin with is the best choice.
QUANTICO
This is another ridiculous American spy show. Obviously the writers are in love with the central character so invent ridiculous and implausible events to spotlight her greatness. It brings the FBI/CIA into as much disrepute as does Homeland.
With so many programmes to watch, you can effortlessly ignore these.

HOMELAND
Was starting to get into it and just as quickly got annoyed with it. Don't know whatever happened because it was on cable TV and we stopped subscribing to cable.
THE FALL
Never heard of it! (O.o)
QUANTICO
Very disappointing show. The flashbacks are super annoying! My husband only watches it because he like Priyanka Chopra.
With Homeland, I forced myself to watch it... as soon as Brody was out... so was I. The Fall is British. It's the tracking of a serial killer. The Police Officer is as horrible as he is so I stopped watching. Priya is nice to look at, but if I watch I'll hate her.
