appreciation
The other day I mowed my MIL’s (mother-in-laws) yard for her. She didn’t ask me, but since I was doing ours and she has no way of mowing it, I did it for her. She knew the day before I was going to move it, but I ran out of gas.
With this being said, one would think that she would show some sort of appreciation. She was in her house and the lawn mower stopped a couple of times. I mowed her lawn, took a break and then finished mowing the front half acre.
By this time it was probably one or two in the afternoon. The more I mowed the more time I had to think about the situation. I was even in tears, because I didn’t even get a “thank-you” or a glass of water or NOTHING from her!
The husband then came home and once again as I was telling him about it I was in tears. She didn’t even show any appreciation and I told my husband, this is the second time this year that she doesn’t show any appreciation for what I do!!
Later, in the evening when my husband and I were outside she came over and was talking. Once again she didn’t mention nothing about me mowing her lawn!!! My husband said something about “that I mowed her yard” and then she said thank-you!! I think that hurt even more, because my husband had to mention (just like the last time) until she acknowledges and thanks me for it.
I’ve had jobs were I wasn’t shown any appreciation and I didn’t work to my potential either!! Why should you? You don’t get any appreciation. I don’t know about you, but when some one doesn’t appreciate me, I don’t want to do anything for them, but I know God is watching and seeing that I’m being a good person, but I will do it anyway because it needs to be done.

Life will be happier if we expect nothing. And when appreciation without expectation comes that is a different feeling.
Expectation reduces joy!
I was shaking my head while reading it because I know the history of you and your MIL. I feel bad that even the act of kindness now a days are never appreciated or she really feel like doing it. I feel bad for you, but please still be a good person that you are.
