SELF IMPROVEMENT: HOW DO YOU WORK ON IT?

Time and life are the best teachers. Both of these keep moving forward in a constant motion and every moment that we spend teaches us something or the other.
But is totally depends on us how much we want to imbibe and learn from the moments spent. Lessons learned once should always be lessons learned for life. It is not bad to fail once but to repeat the reasons that had caused failures will surely inadvisable.
It is well said that time is the best healer. It makes us forget the losses of the past and allows us to move forward. This also varies from person to person. A person with positive outlook will move forward keeping in mind the lessons learned from the past whereas there are many others who will remain fixed to their past and crib about things that no longer matter.
To grow and improve oneself should be like a passion. This journey has no end. There is so much to learn, imbibe and practice but what is needed is the correct outlook to do so. Every human has a limitless potential so it is important that one should discover this hidden potential and start working on self improvement.
There are many things in common that life teaches to most of us. There is also a wide range of aspects that are affected from the very beginning of this journey of and a correct insight can really help us to have a control over them. For me also life has been a constant teacher and here are some of the elements of my personality that have improved over these years.
1). CONTROL OVER ANGER: My life has taught me that anger will never do any good to me. It will only make the present circumstances more harmful and unbearable. On the other hand a calm and contained attitude will definitely figure out good options and that too with an acceptable environment.
Practicing control over anger does require a lot of self control but constant efforts and will power can realy bring out good results. Meditation and exercise really help to refine the results.
2).TOLERANCE: With time I have learned to widen my horizon and accept everything that is around me. Now I follow the fact that the present situation is only temporary and a change will definitely come sooner or later.
This makes me accept my present situation and makes me strive my best to improve them. Always remember that the present is not your final destination . There is a lot more to come.
3).EXPECTATIONS: Happy are those who do not expect anything from others and live a life based on their own skills and caliber. If you expect others to treat you the way you treat them you are highly mistaken. This is a hard reality of life that can never be changed.
4).FORGIVENESS: It is now that I have realized that holding grudges against anyone will only overburden my heart and nothing more than that. Life is too short to hold and carry ill feelings about any one.
Learn to forgive and move forward. This will make you feel so light hearted and good. It will make look at people with a completely different outlook.
5).UNDERSTANDING: Raising a finger is very easy but to easy. But what demands real sense is the ability to put oneself in others shoes and then analyze the situation. This will surely widen our horizon and we will learn to understand what others feel and how they act. It is also important to understand that every human being is different as so are his likes and dislikes.
6).BALANCE: Every life demands a balance or the ability to manage all the priorities in life but in a contained and controlled manner. Maintaining a balance in life is very important. Excess of anything is always bad. Too much of work with no leisure will increase your stress levels for sure. At the same time carrying a casual attitude towards your responsibilities is also unacceptable. You should be judgemental enough to decide the need of the hour.
7) PRIORITY: Life makes everyone play multiple roles . So what becomes important is to set up your priorities based on the present situations. Sometimes it is wise to put some things back and focus on others so as to maintain the balance and spark of life.
8). PATIENCE: This is one of the most important element of your personality. Never ever it is that things will always work according to your wishes. Everything has a certain predestined time and to wait for your time to come with a patient and calm attitude is the real art of living. All that you should do is to focus on the efforts that you put in order to achieve your goal. And for everything else follow as they say” LET THE WATER FLOW”.
9).FAITH: Faith is important in life. Faith in oneself, ones abilities and caliber. Always keep it in mind that you can do this and will do it. This will always keep you going and help you in overcoming every battle of life with the required will power. But there is a major difference between faith and blind faith. Living in a world of dreams will lead you to nowhere. So it is better to accept the reality and then start to working on improving it. Always remember that hard work always pays sooner or later.
10). SACRIFICE : Life demands a lot of sacrifices from time to time. It becomes important to learn to sacrifice . Everyone cannot have everything. Every victory demands some cost and it should be paid. There are no shortcuts to this.

    • Explained the concept of self improvement well. I feel we have to keep reminding ourselves of these things as we easily tend to forget what we read or learnt due to the fast pace of life and the overload of information which we are faced with. It is better if we analyze the above issues on a day to day basis in the night and clear our mind of the clutter.

This will help us have a peaceful sleep and wake up fresh next day to take up challenges of that day. It will also lighten our mind and heart too. Many of us are not even having time to have a peaceful meal with the family. Each one comes at a different time in the house and their is no conversation to lighten the burden and allow family members to destress.
