Seeing green: OPI’s Amazon..Amazoff

It is still “summer” over here so I am trying my best to keep my hands off the nail polish shades I think would suit best for the colder months of autumn and winter. So for the past months, I often use alternately the polish shades of orange, neon green, bright pink, and purple – just to keep up with the cheerful (and sometimes sunny) weather here in Dublin. To be honest, I am not that keen on these shades anymore – I wanted to keep my hands painted with something else! So to cut to the chase, I was unable to resist. And ended up painting my fingernails this emerald green OPI nail polish called Amazon..Amazoff.

This is the second time I tried this nail polish and literally, the second time I used it for my nails. I missed this shade badly so I can’t wait for summer to end before using it again.

The first time I used it, I paired it up with an old bottle of quick dry top coat. My first impression of this product wasn’t too good in comparison to the other OPI nail polish stash I have in my collection. So since I am not using Sally Hansen’s Instadri top coat, I was hoping that it will give me a better result than the last time.
I made a few changes to the way I used this OPI nail polish recently  as well. Before, I only use two coats of this nail polish because the color is really rich and pigmented. On closer look, however, I noticed that there were some color gaps on some of my finger nails. So this time, instead of just putting two coats, I applied three. The result ended up with a deeper shade of emerald green that I don’t mind having. It also somehow brought me back to reminisce of a musical I dearly loved and watched twice in theater called Wicked. I think the green lighting closely resembles the Elphaba‘s aura, don’t you think?

I finished the look with a layer of Sally Hansen’s Instadri top coat. I rested my fingernails for about 5-10 minutes and the top coat was really effective to dry at least the top layer of my nail polish instantly.
After making these changes, I was hoping that OPI’s Amazon..Amazoff will last me for more than 3 days. Sadly, it didn’t. Of course, similar to other nail polish brands and shades I use for my hands, I don’t “protect” it from chipping off and still do chores as usual as I do. I am not sure but I think I bumped my right pointer to something and that was the first fingernail to chip off.
Overall, I am truly in love with the shade but quite disappointed that it doesn’t last too long. So this nail polish is something that I’ll just use for my nails to stay for the weekend and not for something I expect to last me for at least a week.
