I was in the hypermarket at the snacks department today.
Something caught my eyes that I couldn’t let go of them.
Yes, the granola bars!
There were a wide varieties of flavors and brands but most of them are very expensive that I couldn’t bear to fork out money for these yummy snacks.
Some people say that Granola bars are healthy snack because they are made from oats and fibres but some say that these bars are high in calories due to the sugar content which is enormous.
SInce, I can’t bear to part my money for these tempting Granola bars, I had decided to hunt down for the recipes online and offline.
Fortunately, I had an old recipe book that my aunt had given me 20 years ago.
As I flipped through the pages, there were a couple of Granola bar recipes which I tempted to try out.
One of them is the Muscovado Muesli Bars.
I couldn’t figure out what Muscovado was until I Goggle Search it.
Gee, it is unrefined brown sugar which we locally referred it as Gula Melaka, so called Palm Sugar
It has a stronger molasses content and flavor compare to the regular brown sugar.
Anyway, if you can’t buy this sugar in town, get a pack of firmed packed brown sugar or a block of palm sugar at the grocery shop.
Then grate the palm sugar block into sugary form.
I could even scoop up a spoonful and stuck it into my mouth!
Muscovado Muesli Bars are a regular favorite snacks and lunch box for kids in school.
It is packed with fibre and gives energy especially those pupils who are on duty rooster for cleaning up the classroom or toilets during lunch break.
My son has 5min of break time on every Mondays, so this light snack makes a perfect “lunch” for him to give him some energy and strength until noon.

This sounds a nice recipe and is probably a lot cheaper and healthier than the ones you get in the shops. I can get muscavado sugar easily here in the UK as they sell it in supermarkets.
Thank you for the recipe, I will be sure to try it out, because as you mentioned granola bar's are expensive.
