SAYINGS ABOUT WHAT LIFE IS

How can you define love through sayings? How can you explain what life is? Life could be.

  • I would rather be ashes than dust. I would rather have my spark burn out in a brilliant blaze than be stifled by dry rot. I would rather be a superb meteor, an even atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and persevering planet. The proper function of man is to live. Not to exist.
  • There is something positive to be gained by acknowledging one’s enemies. Like all God’s creatures, enemies have a purpose in the world. They offer a criticism of one’s conduct (albeit unsought) that is not always provided by friends. They also encourage self-esteem. How would we know the magnitude of our own worth without someone so worthless attacking?
  • Life is not a 100 yard-sprint, but more a cross-country run. If we sprint all the time, we not only fail to win the race but never last long enough to reach the finish line.
  • Laughter is wine for the soul- laughter soft, or loud, and deep, tinged through with seriousness. Comedy and tragedy step through life together, arm in arm, all along, out along, down along tea. Once we can laugh, we can live. It is the hilarious declaration made by man that life is worth living. The man is always hopeful of, always pushing toward, better things; and to bring this about, a change must be made in the actual way of life; so laughter is brought in to mock at things as they are so that they may topple down, and make room for better things to come.
  • A man was out walking in the desert when a voice said to him, “ Pick up some pebbles and put them in your pocket, and tomorrow you will be both sorry and glad.” The man obeyed. He stopped down and picked up a handful of pebbles and put them in his pocket. The next morning he reached into his pocket and found diamonds and rubies and emeralds. And he was both glad and sorry. He was glad that he had taken some and sorry that he hadn’t taken more.
  • When in the company of sensible men, we ought to be doubly cautious of talking too much, lest we lose two good things- their good opinion and our own improvement; for what we have to say we know, but what they have to say we know not.

    • Thank you. These are all the saying written with experience. Hence, they are golden sayings which one should accept as infallible.
Sometimes, we as innocents may not agree with some of the golden sayings remaining in a cage having four corners but once we come out and go on a living in a dynamic society the value of these sayings can be felt.
Note them all and give a reading at least once in a week to make our life perfect and meaningful.

    • One can only agree with those sayings if they go through such experiences. Life is indeed has a lot to say.
I agree that we must read those golden sayings regularly to enrich our knowledge about what life is and to live it accordingly.
