I will never forget this experience of trying to catch the Eurostar Train that took us From London to Brussels
Anyway, our London trip was a fiasco. We had only two days to cover this place one of which was a Sunday. We saw very little of this beautiful place. You know this place has so much to see and experience. I was particularly interested to see the inside of Harrods where I was told one should visit their rest room – paying a pound (lol) !! Never mind. I atleast got to see the Wax museum, and a few other sites. We saw the Cathedral where Princess Diana got married. I just say Princess Diana as she was already dead when I got to see this church. The River Thames, the Big Ben indeed were included but there was more there that we could not see. It was a wrong idea for us to land there in London during a week end. And what about the Buckiingham Palace. We only got to see it from the outside. A terrible disappointment. This disappointment will stay with me for the rest of my life as I do not think I will ever get an opportunity to go back there. And yes I even wanted to experience the White Cliff of Dover’s – all that needs to be kept in a folder of disappointments.
We were hard pressed for time and we had to catch the four o’clock Eurostar train that would take us to Brussels. We had to carry our own luggage and cross the road to get there. I will never forget these disastrous moments. But once we got in, the feeling that this high speed Euro Star train was traversing the English Channel tunnel made me forget all that I went through moments earlier. Imagine having water above us and not feeling it – a great experience indeed. I marvel at those engineers that conceived this idea and worked towards making it a reality.
