There are different ways to wear an overall and make it your own. You can show your own style and personality into it and make it your own. That is what fashion and style is about. An overall or a jumpsuit need not look like a uniform. It does not have to be associated with work or a certain chore. Given the right attitude and styling anyone can make it rock.
An overall is not only limited for the summer, I think it is very versatile and can be worn year round. It is up to your own imagination and taste as to where you would like to take it. So, how do you make it work? First, decide on the color that you think would work for your complexion. It does not matter really what color just as long as you can werk it. Other people will consider the season and the time of the day but you are good with whatever you may find. Second, choose the material. It may vary from denim, twill, cotton and so on but I prefer not to use denim and would opt for something that is soft and easy to roll up and or fold. Third, accessorize it or jazz it up so that it fits the look you are going for. See this photo below:
This is how I would particularly wear my overall. I would wear a tank top under it. I would not wear something with sleeves on like a t-shirt or a long sleeved shirt. Those look so uniform-like to me and could not imagine myself in them. An overall in my own opinion evokes the feeling of being cool, relaxed and being outrageous at the same time. It does not have to follow certain conventions so to speak. Just like in the picture it looks pretty neat to fold it up a bit. The hat and the bracelet as well as the bag are perfect too for this look.

I am more on simple style: a shirt with collar and a pair of jeans with sneakers. It is so comfy to have a simple outfit. Of course, it depends on what occasion. Unlike some people, they tend to be extravagant in wearing some clothes. In fact, it wasn't fashionable despite the trendy style. The reason, the outfit appears like a uniform since some people wear the same style.
