Review of MIUI android operating system

Different companies used to make over default android operating system provided by Google, and provide their own name by making changes in to it. Like Samsung says it Touchwiz, but default operating system will be always android. Similarly Xioami Company is giving MIUI android operating system by giving lots of customization options which can be found in only custom ROMs. I am using Xioami mobile since long and I personally really enjoy its features.

Let me tell you this operating system is not limited to this company phones only. They are having developers which also develop this MIUI ROMs for other phones. But for that you have to root your phone and install this MIUI custom ROM on your android. As I said I really enjoy its features which are only available in custom ROMs, so it really enhances the experience of using android phone. Let me tell you about its features.

MIUI Features

 

Status bar customization options:

In normal android you can’t customize status bar on the phone. But with MIUI android you can do many things. First of all you can toggle position of the different menus available in quick bar settings. Means you can change the position if any icon from quick settings so that you can easily access them.

You can also have carrier name or hide it using MIUI version. Not only that you can also edit the carrier name and put it as you like.

You can also have customized options for battery icon, like you can have TOP bar battery indicator instead of battery icon in the right corner.

 

Network Speed indicator:

This is really helpful for me to checkout network and downloading speed. With MIUI version you can have network speed indicator on the status bar above so that you can note down speed of your wifi or data network. This features always missing in normal android operating system.

 

Read mode:

There is read mode option in MIUI version. You can enable it when you are reading e-book or any other information from the net. This feature will make your screen deem and more comfortable for reading purpose.

 

LiteMode:

This is another good feature and you can enable it when you want to save your phone’s battery. By enabling this mode you will get simple home screen with limited icons which are necessary for you to call and message. Of course you can add more if you want but then it will affect the battery. This mode enabled with very light theme so that battery of phone can be saved.

 

Child Mode:

With this mode you can provide limited access of apps to your kind. Means in this mode you will have to select the apps you want your kids to use. And then just keep it on. By this way they will only able to access your selected apps, no other apps. This is useful mode to save other data and apps from your kids.

 

Themes:

I like this option which is not available on default android operating system. With MIUI version you can have different themes for your phone so that you can change whole color scheme with icons and lock screen of your phone. By this way you can have new feeling every time you get bored with your phone. So keep changing the themes whenever you feel like bored with your current them. By this way you will feel always new.

 

Wallpaper Carousel:

This is another unique feature provided by MIUI. In this you can select set of the wallpapers for your lock screen. Means they will be your lock screen wallpaper and keep changing in regular time interval. You can also set online wallpapers which will change new wallpaper every day for you form their database using internet. So by this way every day you will have different wallpaper for you lock screen.

 

Online wallpapers:

As I said above, for normal wallpapers also they are having huge database for having different wallpapers for home screen of your phone. You can easily download quality wallpapers from their database and set it for your phone’s home screen.

 

One handed mode:

Sometimes it is difficult to handle your phone only with one hand as these days phones are coming with big screen. But with MIUI there is option called one handed mode. Using this option you can make your screen size smaller so that you can operate whole phone with one hand. This is really helpful thing when we can only use one hand for our phone for some reason. And also enabling this mode is very easy. You just need to move your finger from home button to any side right or left. By this way your screen size will be small. If you want screen on left side then just move finger from home button to left and you can move it on other side for different side of course. Getting out of this feature is also easy thing.

 

Quick ball:

This is latest feature offered by MIUI in their latest version. With this you can have different control buttons on your display. You can have all those buttons like back, home, menu, etc on the display itself. By enabling this feature you will found small faded round icon on display, by clicking on it, it will expand and give you control of all buttons.

 

Permission Manager:

This is the best feature they are giving since long time. Even Google Android itself just introduced this feature in their recent version Marshmallow. It is call permission manger. By enabling this feature every application installed on your phone will ask for permission if they want to use any hardware or function of your phone. You can always disable unwanted functions usage for any application using this feature. Suppose you don’t want to allow any application to read your messages then you can disable the usage. Before than Marshmallow android version there was no control on permission of the apps. But MIUI was having this feature since long. If you can understand this feature well then it is really helpful stuff for sure as even Google has to adopt this thing in their latest android version.

So this is it. I have almost descried all features I like in MIUI version. Let me tell you they have recently launched their latest version MIUI 8. But still it is in beta mode so not available to all members. I will write another article on that new version as soon as it will be available to me. Thanks for reading.
