Adding Mustard seeds to a regular vegetable salad.. Sounds a little strange.. There are doubts if this would enhance the taste and making your boring salad taste yummy. Isn’t it??
Well I never expected that this combination would taste that good.
A few days back one of my mom’s friends told her about this unique combination and we decided to try it out for a change. This dish can grab eyeballs due to its unique colour combination, one cannot deny that not only does it look good but it would taste even better. After my mom’s friend shared this recipe, we decided to give it a try at home and yes it did taste delicious. Plus now we have a new recipe to make our boring salads taste yummier. After all, delicious healthy food would be an ideal choice.
Now how do you go about it??
Well all you need is two tomatoes finely chopped, 1 cucumber cut into long pieces (about 1/2 inch) and 1 onion finely chopped. Next mix these veggies and add a pinch of salt along with two slit green chillies. Mix this well. Next add about 2-3 tablespoons of dahi i.e. yogurt. Mix well again. Add around 2 teaspoons of dry roasted peanut powder to the chopped veggies and mix once again.
Now take a vessel and add one teaspoon oil to it. Once the oil heats up, add 1 teaspoon of mustard seeds to it. After the mustard seeds splutter, remove it from heat. Now add these fried mustard seeds to your salad and mix everything well.
Your mustard seeds veggies salad is now ready. Garnish the salad with freshly chopped coriander leaves.
You can now serve this tasty and healthy salad with chappatis (i.e. flat bread) or with rice.
This salad is healthy as well as tasty and filling too. Making it an ideal choice with your meals.

thanks for sharing your recipe.
Mustard seeds, very seldom use it here, maybe in Indian recipes, like curries and asam meal
However, this is a good sample of recipe to take note
This sounds like a very tasty salad! I love to put mustard seed into salad dressings for potato salad or coleslaw, and often in a green salad such as a spinach salad.
I'm curious about the dry roasted peanut powder. I've never encountered such an ingredient, and I wonder if you just grind the peanuts yourself or if you buy the powder already prepared? What are other ways it might be used?
