Qatar airways is one of the fastest growing airlines in the world based in the state of Qatar.it is also the country’s national airline operating since 1994. Major changes took place in 1997 when it was re-launched with an aim to make it a leading international airline.

Since then, its growth has been amazing doubling figures every year. Outstanding standards of service has been a key to its recognition both regionally and globally. Making it reach 100 destinations by 2011 subsequently winning Airline of the year 2011, 2012 and 2015.

 

 Worldwide network growth.

Qatar airways has established a global network, serving more than 150 destinations currently. It covers; Asia pacific, Europe, North America, Middle East, South Asia, South America and Africa with a modern fleet of more than 170 passenger and cargo aircraft.

 

The following is a list of expansion since 2010

2010: it added new 10 destinations including Tokyo, Ankara, Copenhagen, Barcelona, Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Phuket, Hanoi, Nice and Bengaluru.

2011: the year it made history launching further 15 new destinations. The expansions focused majorly on Europe- Sofia, Brussels, Budapest, Bucharest, Stuttgart, Oslo and Venice. From other continents, new routes included Kolkata, Medina, Entebbe, Shiraz, Montreal (3 flights a week) and Chongqing.

2012: news destinations included Maputo, Baku, Tbilisi, Zagreb, Perth, Kigali, Kilimanjaro, Yangon, Baghdad, Erbil, Belgrade, Kigali and Warsaw.

2013: Gassim, Najaf, Phnom Penh, Salalah, Chicago, Chengdu, Basra, Sulaymaniyah, Addis Ababa, Clark international,Ta’if and Hangzhou

2014: It launched flights to Sharjah, Philadelphia, Edinburgh,Instanbul Sabiha  Gokcen Airport,Larnaca, Al Hofuf, Miami, Dallas, Djibouti and Asmara.

2015: new networks in 2015 included flights to Amsterdam, Zanzibar, Nagpur and Durban.

2016: so far this year, it has launched routes to Los Angeles and Ras Al Khaimah.

 

New Brand

On December 2015, it started its new brand campaign. This campaign is meant for togetherness. It brings people together for family, work or adventure encouraging travellers to take flights that will assist them attain their dreams and desires of their life.

It has implemented the most touching and modern operation to show its core values as an up-to date and innovative airlines that is going places. Therefore, it is an inspiration to its passengers to follow the tracks.

Young fleet

Since its re-launch in 1997, Qatar airways had grown to a fleet size of 28 and 50 aircraft in 2003 and 2006 respectively. Presently, the size is more than 170 aircraft and 150 destinations globally.

The company has the youngest fleets, averaging under 4 years old. The family consist of Airbus and Boeing aircraft types and newly delivered A350 XWB aircraft. It became the first airline in the globe to launch every family of Airbus modern airliner collection consisting of A320, A330, A340, A350 and A380.

It has continued to expand its flights ordering 30 Gulfstream Jets at Geneva in May 2015. This adds the list to 330 new aircraft pending delivery.

 

Safety.

 

It became the first to pass International Air Transport Association safety audit compliance. This is an operation meant to set standards and rationalize number of safety and security measures with an aim of code sharing. It was assessed on engineering, operational security, cabin operations, ground operations and management systems.

 

For the past financial year, 214/2015, it had over 26 million passengers.
