Gardening is such a hobby that is full of anticipation. And anticipation plays a huge role in one’s life and this anticipation is a daily feature for gardeners.
It is not necessary that one should own acres of land to give that feel. Planting in pots and waiting for results can do that.
1. Those living in flats have limited space to give vent to their gardening passion and here is where potted plants could help.
2. A little bit of knowledge would be needed to be a successful gardener. One needs to pick the right size of pot and the right plants depending on the position of balconies. If they do not get the morning sun then flowering plants may not do well in which case cactus or crotons could be one’s choice.
3. The soil mix needs to be taken care of. 3:2:1 is the normal mix where 3 is soil, 2 manure and 1 sand.
4. A plate needs to be kept under the pot so that the water does not leak out and mess around.
5. Watering needs to be controlled as too much water can kill the plants. Some plants need more water but plants such cacti can survive with very little.
Then comes anticipation. Visiting to see the progress of plants specially to see if the planting is done rightly. If the mother root is broken then the plant will not show signs of life.
There are times however if the plant is bruised while planting it will show signs of withering. Hope is not lost as it will slowly gain strength and new shoots or leaves will appear. When that new shoot appears only a gardener will know the joy they experience.
If it is a flowering plant the first bud on the plant can result in ecstasy. Then comes the time when the flower fully blooms. A passionate photographer will bring out their camera and capture that joy.
Anyone who has sown seeds, seeing them germinate and getting to the size ready for transplanting will experience yet another kind of joy.
There are frustrations and challenges and when the challenges are met that is a different kind of satisfaction. A tenacious gardener will not give up easily until results show.

@bestwriter, I always admire your gardening skills. In our house, I and my sister loves to grow flowers for outdoors and indoors too. It always gives joy, as you have said. Every time the flower blooms in our small garden, it feels like I had a great accomplishment received.
