Personal Book Review: The Novel “The Eleventh Commandment” by Jeffrey Archer

I like to read novels of fictional writers like Jeffrey Archer and Sidney Sheldon. I would like to explore other newer novelists too, however I now do not get that much time to read new novels and books.

Today I will talk about a novel I first bought and read in the year 2002 and then again a few years back. This is the novel:
The Eleventh Commandment written by Jeffrey Archer and first published in 1998.
The Eleventh commandment is a rule for spies(apart from the much known Ten Commandments like you shall never steal etc- you shall never be caught).

The Plot of the novel in brief
——————————-
Connor Fitzgerald works as a chief assassin for the CIA. The chief of CIA is on a plan to eliminate top political figures in other countries, whom she thinks as not in the interests of United States.
Connor is trapped by her to do work on her behalf and later be eliminated.
However, during one of his last missions, Connor is arrested and placed in a jail in Russia. He is then asked to eliminate the candidate for the Russian presidency.
The story then moves as to how Connor is involved in an assassination attempt, fails and “dies” but survives in the end as a person with a changed personality and identity.

What I liked about the novel
—————————–
Jeffrey Archer’s story visualisation and the narrative is quite well planned. Scene after scene keeps one glued as to what will happen next?
At times, one thinks that the story will go in a predictable trajectory. Then, suddenly we are in for a surprise.
Some of the aspects of Archer’s writing look quite similar to that of Sidney Sheldon but Sheldon’s stories have a bit more of violence and are sometimes more serious.
Anyways, coming back to this particular novel, the novel is a one time good read, and I makes one feel to read one more of Archer’s books.
