No one can deny the importance of a dictionary when it comes to improving written English.
Learning some new language requires a lot of time. You cannot expect to improve your English in just a couple of days.
It would be totally impossible as it requires a lot of practice and patience. One must show a high level of consistency while doing so.
Consulting a good dictionary is the key to success. I would recommend ‘’Oxford Advanced learners Dictionary’’. Buy this dictionary, do consult it daily and consider your job done.
The dictionary will play a role of a nice teacher. It will teach you a lot in just a couple of days if you keep consulting it on daily basis. It will surely improve your vocabulary and you will feel the difference in some days.
Consult this dictionary whenever you find a new word, try to make some notes and make it a habit. This is the short-cut to success.
An important feature of this dictionary is that it uses words in sentences showing different shades of meanings. I like this feature of the dictionary a lot. As we all know it is not sufficient to have meanings only. For proper comprehension of a word or phrase we must have it used in sentences. When we read sentences, we tend to keep words in our minds and the dictionary may offer help in this regard.
This dictionary has become a good friend of mine. I bought it in the year 2000 when I was a student of F.Sc. Whenever I want to find meanings of a word, I consult it and it solves my problem, tells me not only the meaning but also different uses of the word.
Whenever my students ask me about a dictionary I recommend Oxford Advance Dictionary. When I want their feedback, they tell me that they find it very helpful.

I love Oxford dictionaries no matter what version.
I do agree that dictionary is the bible of the students and continued to be used even after graduating from a university. Some people ignore the fact of nourishing their vocabularies because a diploma is what they are after. Learning will not end there and it continues to yearn for learning.
