We visited the Atlantis resort in Paradise Island, in the Bahamas on a (yep, you guessed it), cruise. It was on our itinerary. It appears that this destination is very popular for the cruise industry, because I’ve actually been there 4 times, out of the 6 times we’ve been to Nassau.
When we got off the ship, we caught a ride on a water taxi for about $3.00 a person (one way), and then another $3.00 to get back to the ship. We walked to the resort, and I can see why the Rich & Famous stay here. This place is absolutely stunning. It’s one of those places that you think you’ll only see on a t.v. commercial. And believe me when I tell you that it looks as beautiful in person, as it does in the commercials.
The famous Royal Towers is located in Atlantis, and you can stay in the Bridge Suite (which is the suite that divides the two towers), for a minimum $25,000 a night. Our tour guide told us that Michael Jackson had stayed there before.
There is a casino on the premises, and we played a few slots, and were actually ahead for quite awhile. I redeemed at 25 cents, so I could have the slip to put in my scrapbook when I got back home. The first time we went to Atlantis, we booked a shore excursion of the Digs. It’s an underwater aquarium that resembles the Lost City of Atlantis. I found the excursion to be a bit overpriced though, for what you actually get to see.
Many celebrities have stayed at this resort, and many have vacation homes here. Overall, it made for a fun visit, and there’s the architecture of the buildings at this resort is beyond beautiful.
