New Spicy Chicken Wings Recipe

Chicken wings, who doesn’t love them!

 

Fried chicken wings are common dish in our household during special occasions such as Chinese prayers, family members birthday or festive seasons.

 

However, too much of good food isn’t good for health either.

Deep fried chicken wings should be consumed moderately.

So why not replace them with Spicy Chicken wings instead for weekend dinner or parties?

 

I do love those Spicy Chicken wings that Pizzahut serve on the menu.

Those are baked spicy chicken wings with authentic spice sauce that even kids could accept the flavor , not to mention adults favorite!

 

I found out that if you purchase chicken wings in the wet market, you have to pluck out the feathers which are often still intacted to the wings.

However, supermarket pre-packed chicken wings do not have this problem, although some are not fresh as you can see the wings are bruised with reddish marks on them.

 

Black beans

 

You can find this type of black beans sold in small jars , it could be either whole mini black beans or mashed beans.

 

Most of the black beans are fremented with black vinegar or chilli paste, it doesn’t matter.

If the black beans are mixed with chiili paste, remove the chiili flakes from the recipe.

 

Black beans gives the mix of salty and aromatic beans flavor to this chicken wing recipe.

 

With the mild spice flavor, chicken stock aids in reducing the spiciness so that your kids are able to accept the flavor.

 

You could reduce the chicken stock volume to half if you prefer more spicy flavor to your wings.

Remember to marinate both light soy sauce and the wine together with the chicken wings in advance, at least 30minutes to an hour before you cook them.

 

Allow the wings to absorb the flavor and soften the meat texture.

 

 

Spicy Chicken Wings

 

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbps light soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp wine
  • 8 chicken wings
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp ginger-chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic-chopped
  • 2 tsp black beans -chopped
  • 115ml chicken stock
  • 2 tsp light soy sauce
  • 1 tsp Chilli flakes
  • 2 stalks spring onions-chopped
  • Some lettuce for decorations

 

 

Method of preparation:

  • In a bowl, combine light soy sauce and wine together.
  • Briefly wash and remove the feathers from the chicken wings.
  • Marinate the chicken wings with the premixed sauce for 1 hour, chill in the fridge.
  • Heat up wok with olive oil.
  • Saute the ginger and garlic until fragrant.
  • Lightly coat the chicken wings with a little flour in order to absorb the excess liquid from the wings.
  • Fry the chicken wings with the ginger and garlic.
  • Fry until both sides are semi-cooked.
  • Then, add in the black beans, chickn stock, light soy sauce and chilli flakes.
  • Allow the gravy to thicken, keep toss and turn the chicken wings so that the gravy is well coated to them.
  • Dish up and garnish with chopped spring onion and lettuce leaves.

 

Serves 4-6 person, great for parties, weekend dinner and afternoon snacks with cold beverages.
