Nanotechnology is the study of the science of all types of materials at their atomic and molecular or more correctly at their nano level. It deals with their physics, chemistry and even their biological properties. Being an interdisciplinary course it is a vast science of our future. One needs to be very fundamentally strong at the bulk level first in order to study this science.
By the way what will be our biggest achievement in the world of science? With the application of magnetic fields to nano robots or nanobots we are able to reach the smallest part of our human body without any type of hindrances. And In this way nanotechnology has applications even in military, medical, rocketry, fashion and many more sciences. Nanotechnology is not so defined or explored today.But we need to do it as soon as possible in order to expand our world.
Studying this type of technology will make us wonder why it is so important and why not so at micro or Fermi level. So to answer this question I may say that Nano science has a very unique and exciting science behind it to study about it. When we advance towards nano level we may come across various new properties of the same materials which we cannot find it at its bulk level.
Nanotechnology assures us for variety of products with advances technology but with minimal size and volume. Today the science being advancing towards technology of large properties but with small size nanotechnology is being the only way to achieve this. With the help of technology we may be able to cure harmful diseases like cancer, AIDS and other complicated heart disease easily.
On reducing the size to its nano level from this respective bulk level first it becomes very difficult to control the size of the particles because of the rise in the energy of the particles and become unstable. Then nano particles have large surface to volume ratio due to which they show a large variation in their electrical, optical and other properties.

I believe that most technology moves mankind forward and helps. Even when people take the technology and misuse it or use it for purposes “other than intended” with bad results, I am still thankful for the work of the inventors, geeks, scientists, etc. It's progress!
