Seventh in my list of my Favorite cricket match is a tri-series played between India, Australia and Zimbabwe. This match is between India and Zimbabwe, played at The Gabba, Brisbane, Australia on 20th Jan, 2004. India has already beaten Zimbabwe once in this same series, so Zimbabwe will try to take revenge and victory against India will make chances for Zimbabwe to play in the finals as well.
India won the toss and decided to bat first. Indian team and 11 looks like this: Rahul Dravid, VVS Laxman, Sourav Ganguly (c), Yuvraj Singh, Irfan Pathan,Parthiv Patel (wk), Lakshmipathy Balaji, Anil Kumble, Ashish Nehra, Hemang Badani, Rohan Gavaskar
And Zimbabwe 11 looks like: Tatenda Taibu (wk), Mark Vermeulen, Ray Price, Grant Flower, Heath Streak (c), Stuart Carlisle, Andy Blignaut, Travis Friend, Dion Ebrahim, Douglas Hondo, Sean Ervine
In this match India started the innings with wicket keeper parthiv patel and Saurav Ganguly batting together. India posted the total of 254 runs at the loss of 6 wickets in allotted 50 over’s of the game with the contribution of Saurav ganguly 33 runs in 43 balls with 4 fours and strike rate of 76, Yuvraj Singh who made 69 runs in 76 balls with 3 fours at the strike rate of 90 and rahul dravid who made 84 runs in 106 balls with 3 fours at strike rate of 79.
Zimbabwe needs 255 runs to win the match.
Zimbabwe batted well but were bowled out for 231 runs in 47.1 over’s and lost the game by 24 runs, they couldn’t even bat for full 50 over’s which also caused them the game and they could have won it of they have stayed till 50 over’s. Yuvraj Singh was the man of the match for his great and good knock and brilliant fielding in which he almost saved more than 30 runs. This was the time when the present day legend and Superstar Yuvraj Singh was making his place in the Indian Cricket team.
