Forth in my list of my Favorite cricket match is another, New Zealand and Pakistan match, played in Westpac Stadium, Wellington, New Zealand on 17th Jan, 2004.
New Zealand have already won the series 3-1 but this last game is just a formality but Pakistan will try to win this game so that they can have some more positives from this tour of New Zealand.
New Zealand again won the toss but this time they opted to bat first, so Pakistan will bowl first.
New Zealand team 11 comprises of : Stephen Fleming (c), Chris Cairns, Hamish Marshall, Craig McMillan, Scott Styris, Jacob Oram, Brendon McCullum (wk), Kyle Mills, Daniel Vettori,Andre Adams, Craig Cumming
Pakistan 11 looks like this: Shoaib Akhtar, Mohammad Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Yousuf, Inzamam-ul-Haq (c), Abdul Razzaq, Yasir Hameed, Imran Farhat,Azhar Mahmood, Moin Khan (wk)
New Zealand batted superbly and with the help of Ham. Marshall who made 84 runs in 105 balls with 8 fours at the strike rate of 80 and Craig Macmillan who made run a ball 81 with 8 fours and two sizes at the strike rate of 100, support of Chris cairns who made quick fire 36 runs in 20 balls with 5 fours and 1 six at the strike rate of 180, made the total of 307 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in allotted 50 overs.
Pakistan needed to bat very well to chase the target of 308 in 50 over’s. With the efforts of Moin Khan, Inza mam Up haq, yasir hameed and Abdul Razaaq Pakistan chased the target well but they still got lost 4 runs, still 3 bowls were left in the game but the tail enders of Pakistan team did not bat well to won the match for their team, Abdul Razzaq was the Man of the match for his fine knock of 89 runs in 40 balls with 9 fours and 5 sixes at the strike rate of 222.
