Chetan Bhagat is my favourite author.I have read all his books.I really enjoy his books at times,even though the languages is simple, and the stories turn out to quite predictable towards the end.
Chetan Bhagat is a famous Indian author who penned down novels that hit the market with great a success. All of them were best sellers since their release and have been filmed by famous Bollywood directors also. Chetan Bhagat is also considered a youth icon rather than as just an author.
With his vivid ,humorous way of depicting stories, he has inspired reading habits in youth.
He is also a good columnist and writes columns for many leading newspapers also.
According to him, for him novels are entertainment tools through which he expresses his views and opinion about society and the youth. In his view Development issues and national issues are addressed through columns.
Chetan bhagat’s columns are written in a way that directly points out the issues with in our country and in many times it has even trigger discussions in the parliament also.He is the not only a good writer but also a motivational speaker and has given many motivational speeches at many colleges also,and organizations and companies.
Chetan Bhagat published his first novel first novel Five Point Someone’ in 2004 and this very first venture took him to peaks of fame and popularity.
The book depicted the story of an IIT student who considers himself to be below average than all other students in IIT.
This book won the Society Young Achiever’s Award and Publisher’s Recognition Award also.The story was adopted into a film directed by Rajkumar Hirani and starred famous Bollywood stars like perfectionist Aamir Khan,R Madhavan,and Sharman Joshi and Kareena Kapoor.
His second book was ‘One Night At A Call Center’ and this too was a great success also. This book was made into a movie and was the named ‘Hello’ and Chetan himself wrote the script.The movie was noted by the special appearance of Bollywood super star Salman Khan and was an average hit.His next novel has cricket as major theme. It is named Three Mistakes of My Life, His fourth book is named ‘2 States’.
Chetan’so contribution to the field of entertainment is noticeable. He has never confined his literary talents to just writing novels.
As a very responsible social person, he writes columns in newspapers also, citing and dwelling on tge various social and national issues. Many of his columns were noticed by member of parliament and triggered serious discussions in the Indian Parliament also.He has addressed issues like corruption by sending an open letter to Sonia Gandhi and also has spoken about the political issues that revolved around Baba Ramdev.
He won the Society Young Achiever Award in 2000 and the Publisher Recognition Award in the 2005. Chetan Bhagat also a found himself place in the Time magazine list of World 100 Most Influential personality year 2010.
Chetan Bhagat is so popular because he writes reality, things which a common Indian can relate to and experiences in his daily life.And A huge percentage of Indian readers of the 21st century have come to believe that he has brought a new wave of literature in India.

Thanks for the introduction. I think is the first time I've ever heard mention of a modern Indian author. Most of the recommended writers were from way back.
