My brother is now 57 and three years from now he will retire. It is only his age that retires but his body will continue working should he be allowed to work in the Middle East specifically in Saudi Arabia because this time their company is on bankruptcy status. My brother finished three courses related with economics, but so sad, he married a girl that cannot be trusted and worth to be called a wife. They married in church and in civil marriage, and all these turned futile for while he is working abroad, his wife played fire with another men. Yes men, she kept on changing men in her life. We learned late in our family that his wife has an aunt that is prostitute and her mother married thrice husbands all living. At first, we hate the decision of my brother to marry that girl 6 years gap between with his wife. That time of my brother was 24 and the girl 18. Only few members attended their wedding bells because it was done across the seas and skies, plus I was so young that time and my father was always away from home as a military official. He was not granted for a vacation for they were in the other part in the Philippines fighting for the rebels in the mountain.
During the few years of their marriage, there was abundance and happiness for my brother had won a lottery in their agency and the money was huge and only was only spent for their luxurious living in other place. I can recall now how much my brother gave me, so very small few pesos, but when his company turned bankrupt starting last year, he no longer has money for his food, so I sent him money through Western Union $ 300. This time my brother is still there in Saudi Arabia hoping that their company can operate soon. There are only few of them this time and he is assigned the company checker.
Why is it that my bro does not anymore like to go home? His wife left their three children sick and mal nourished. Their home not yet fully paid embargoed by the subdivision owner. We were so thankful that time we visited the children in a far city, three of them, my sister, I and our cousin. We were so shocked to see my niece and nephew cried. We brought them home and stayed until my brother arrived from Saudi Arabia sad and heart broken in pain. We learned from the eldest daughter of my bro that his wife took illegal drugs and because of drug she sold her 2 years old son from his other man to their neighbor at 2,000 pesos Philippine money. We sympathized our brother’s feeling and we never blamed him of his past for my father told him never to marry that girl. He never listened to my father’s please so this is now what he faces with marriage broken.
Another worst thing is , when I went to Social Security System (SSS) my brother’s contributions do not qualify for a pension/ he has many arrears . His wife ended the payment in 1984, my goodness that was too long ago. Our family could also blame our brother, but we never let him feel it for we know how much pain and guilt he carried at this moment of time. I do not know how to tell my brother about what the SSS manager told me that if he cannot pay the appears within this year which amounted to P 245,000, all his contributions will be returned to him and he cannot anymore avail of the retirement benefits like monthly pension. I do not know how to console my brother. I am so close to my brother for when I was in college he always gave me money and brought home gold jewelry for me that is why I cry whenever I remember the retirement age of my brother 3 years from now and he has nothing, no savings even few thousands, zero. My brother will retire broke.
In his younger years, he had much money. That was supposed to be the time he started saving for his old age. It is too late for him to know the quality of the girl he married. Why life was like that to my brother? The answer is so simple; he was not wise and smart. Why he didn’t listen to his own family that his wife had betrayed him in the past. He did not respect the letter of my father sent to him in Saudi that his wife cheated him. He has high trust on his useless wife. We cannot believe until this time our brother married a rotten being. May his wife rot in jail if caught during the buy bust operation by police?
Our family is always willing to support our brother; we will never leave him in his crucial time. He will go home few months from now. His company has no chance to resurrect.

The feeling is so sickening if knew a family member to retire broke. It could be unbelievable for he has a good job in Saudi as an accountant but sad he married a bad wife and my brother too so in love with her and he never had the chance in himself to sense the immoral doings of his wife. he never listened to his family about how he was made deaf and mute by his wife. He had made a wrong choice and a wrong girl. Yesterday can never be repaired.
Sad to know about your brother. At times, we think that we have made some good decision in our life, but we later on find our life has gone out of control. Bad people take advantage of good people's love and concern, betraying them also.
Almost everyone working here in the Philippines have the same fate that includes my parents. They are both on their 60's in two to three years they will be retiring. They already spend their future pension by having advance loans in the bank. There is a really serious problem to our system.
@PEEUSH TRIKHA, That is so true, no matter how we want to make our fate perfect, but there are forces that drive us to forget what we had planned. It is also because humans are weak and always subject to commit mistake, no perfect humans, but somehow, if we want to make everything happens, it wojuld if we do and strive to accomplish and achieve what has been dreamed of for future sake and better life. So sad, my brother nice and bright, became dull and lame like because of love. That is why i never agree that life will be made beautiful if we listen to the beating of our heart; it is proven false.
@Seth,Oh sorry my dear. What your parents were doing was wrong. I had known someone who loaned in advance his pension worth 1.5 million for a business he wanted to open and have his nephew to run the said business. At the end, no profit found, no money found in his band as what was agreed to deposit the profit to his bank account.Then time came he retired and his nephew left the country bringing with him almost one million. That person I knew became my superior for he was also a Doctor of Philosophy, yet his brilliance was not used wisely. he had the full confidence and trust to his nephew without remembering and thinking that we cannot even trust ourselves, so how much more to a relative.
